Awakening

Updated on December 30, 2011

Head that raptured

Spun and tossed

A fatal reaction

Nights in the dismal darkness

I can't think anymore

I'm begone lost

My mind's a memory

Of what my life used to be

Raging heat stirring from within

My heart hung shot and stung

Beaten down where life is no more

Held under water for too long

Where do I go from here

The days are dark

Retreating to my special place

Where light remains

I wait and pray

And see if things change

There I know my hope sustains

Sweet and gentle

It comes in a sway

My lost hope

Hasn't gone astray

I was waiting for you

To save me from this dark place

Now I know

That I am safe

I refer to these as tailspin poems, drafting down, down, down, then at the last moment a pull back of the throttle and back on course, safe. Interesting. I am glad I stopped by.
