Duel Natures

Updated on November 26, 2010

Caught somewhere

t'ween heaven and hell...

knowing them both and refraining from looking...

least in glimpsing either I pain myself...

more then a little...

When in the darkness...

I fight all that beckon...

slaying demons right and left...

I end up back in directions most holy...

back to the flame...

it's my nature you see...

where light burns me as much as it beckons...

for a time I stay...

do what I can today...

eventually I must withdraw...

the heat is too much...

my scars start to burn...

itch...

ache...

then burn anew...

I must away to the shadows...

the shade cools and sooths...

then irritates all the same...

for that you can't blame...

The scars start to take on life...

growing gradually but still...

It sets me in mind of battle renewed...

my teeth set on edge with demonic blood-lust...

the cycle starts over again.

Why do I do it?

A rational question...

begging a rational answer...

I cant quite give that to you...

I am a creature of La Mancha...

was scarred from the start...

t'was a childhood tiff...

almost proving fatal to my soul...

now here in the flesh...

sword in hand...

the scars never healed...

but some scars don't...

I now feel what it is natural to feel...

I'm an old soldier of sorts...

yet the heart of a healer...

those two play havoc on my head...

One thirsts for blood...

the other to salve and stop it...

a hypocrite to the end.

Yes but i feel writing out those pains is a way of being able to free them and share them to others who have felt the same and can relate and help them through their own perils they may be having themselves...but yes i do like it and will continue to read your posts your writing is very well done.

lol may I say that I am sorry you did but glad you like it? This was an introspective piece that gives me some pains as to how close to home it comes.
