Spring Mist

Updated on November 18, 2015

The air was warm and slightly humid,

A light spring mist

Came down like thin glass,

There was a scent of something

That was almost like newly mown grass,

There were no pretenses,

A gentle insect hum lulled the senses,

The sky offered quiet thrills,

And folks were hiking

In the rolling hills,

Everything was shiny and bright,

Clouds broke apart

Allowing in the sun’s light,

And bushes and trees

Were billowing white,

Throughout the valley,

The birds sang,

And the children’s laughter rang,

Wearing a spring mist on their sleeve,

A faint smell of moist soil,

A hint of floral fragrance

Traveled on a gentle breeze,

The spring mist filtered

Through an ancient sycamore tree,

Its graceful branches

Swaying gentle and free,

The winter depression

Gave way to God’s impression,

And it would always seem,

That a spring mist comes

In a midst of a dream.

I loved this beautiful poetry the first time I read it, and I loved it again. Lovely words written from you in this lovely poem of Spring. We thought Spring had sprung here, as it was so beautiful for a couple of days, now back to cold and next week in the 20s and I am in the deep South!!!

This was delightful to read this Saturday morning.

      Enjoy your weekend,

      Faith Reaper

Frank I've been looking for spring as someone seems to have miss placed it. I think I found it here in your poem. Back again for a visit this year. Have a great weekend and I hope you didn't get all the snow that we did last night.

Very beautifully expressed; your words reflect of a poet's mind and how a poet makes observations during a single moment.

This is beautiful. You should try someone to put some of your work to music. When your words transport people to another place, you've really got something special. I can't say it enough. Great job.

Frank, 'Spring Mist' is so gentle, like a watercolor painting. I know you are one of Hub Page's most talented writers, and I have to apologize for not reading you more. Suffice to say this poem today has been a rare treat. Thank you, snakeslane

What a beautiful and captivating poem this is! I love the line

      A light spring mist

      Came down like thin glass

You evoked a feeling of dreaming where the images, scents and sounds are so vivid. I was actually smelling the scents, hearing the sounds and seeing your beautiful images - this is awesome!!!
