Erring Lust Love Defeated
A kiss. Who could ask for such a treasure?
Trespasser disrespecting other and self?
Selfish one wanting pleasure?
They weren't these, yet a kiss would define direction.
A warm date followed by a drive.
Driving into light's relaxation.
Relying on their wits following an adventure.
Tired of life alone, they faced goodbye's expressions.
Lost. Disorientation grew stronger.
Strange street names he saw.
Thoughts of empathy overtook her.
His peace of mind was what she sought.
She would not take from him the wheel.
While he led them left and right
Writing a new chapter in their lives.
More good would yet come from this night.
Six-sided, metal plate, red.
Read the answer in the sign,
Significant, yet simple.
S-T-O-P numbed their minds.
Calling his name gently
Genuine hope won over the demons.
Demolished became her pride.
Can a kiss so sweet be soul's freedom?
He regained confidence.
Confounded circling returned
Retaking the hill she had won.
Darkness, confusion once more begun.
Red light. She would dare.
"Darling," she thought, "will you know?
No pleasure I sought, but fear-relief for both."
She asked for a kiss once more. Green light. Home.
Now she sees the kiss was a lesson
Less for him than for her.
Erring lust love defeated.
Humility in a kiss two souls' course set free.
