Strange Connection

Updated on February 19, 2012

I dreamt of you last night
A strange connection.
Though I couldn't see your face
I knew it was you.

I was waiting for the October wind,
as I do now, hoping to see
the swallows dance around
the old abandoned church.

You told me that you
knew the clockwork
manners of hotels and mazes.
Of military scenes
and memories of long ago.

Though I couldn't see your face
I knew it was you.
I'm still waiting for the October air
to brush away this stifling heat.

To sweep your breath
into my room and your
whispers whisking by
on the wings of swallows.

Lovely, powerful poem with words woven so beautifully. I am the one sitting in that place waiting for October. Sweet.

Nice poem Laura. I see connections with your "An Ode, October" poem. These are two delightful poems flowing nicely with a dash of symbolism and allegory in my view. Well done.
