Strange Visitations

Updated on June 17, 2017

Approaching the swampiest regions,

I landed there late one moonlit night.

Saw and heard just a hundred things,

And It all did leave me in such a fright.

Weird glowing lights thought were bugs,

Tails seemed to blink on and off in time.

They looked just like neon signs flashing,

While odd birds performed a pantomime.

As I approached near the watery edge,

A frightening creature, there I did spy.

Was green and gulped water, then spit,

Swamp pollution all landed in my eye.

Making the most of those bizarre noises,

This critter then just leapt over my head.

There it landed kerplop, in the Lilly pads,

Where I could only think it must have fled.

Then I heard such a most awful sound,

My feet jumped up high from the ground.

Its piercing call, made my hairs raise up,

Its big eyes both rolled round and round.

This peculiar creature had scared me so,

I surely did want to leave this crazy place.

When his tongue then snared a huge bug,

I'd rather have spent my time up in space.

My escaping this mysterious alien world.

Was so happy, as I flew my craft on high.

My freakish encounter made me shiver,

Such incredible beings to make me sigh.

I'll not desire to make visits to that swamp,

Never to place my three toes there again.

Made my poor blue skin changes its colors,

As green as the critters where I had been.

Blasted swamp critters...
Blasted swamp critters...

Such an enjoyable and different type of read - you've been able to create a great tale with a simple change of perspective
