Suicide by the sea.......

He stands staring balefully at the rolling seas
and listens to the surf dying on the beach
To one side the squealing children one
small pleasure .... just out of reach

He glances to his right at a woman
applying lotion to a small babe
And steps into the tide pondering
of the gifts he would trade

Wading in up to his waist he feels
the cool release of all his tomorrows
As he gets to his chest he smiles
able to leave without sorrows

The sea is taking him back
from whence all of us came
Though not all to return as he
he's chosen a different game

Not one person notices as he dips silently
beneath the aqua colored sea
Never to surface again
his soul is finally free

One day his mailbox will overflow
the car at the breaker will be found
Too late though for worry
another tide rolls around

So sad, and he just drifts off with the sea, no one even notices him or cares to save him, too busy with their own lives.

aww well suicide is not the way! its the cowards way, and I dont think you are a coward. Your time will come, til then live life, be happy, write, dont let anything keep yu down, no matter how bad you have it things will look up. its all about perspective. glad youre ok now, lets keep it that way!

I liked how this was written matter of factly when it is such an emotive topic. It somehow made it more hopeless and sadder. Nice work :)

      ME NO LIKEY!!

me no care how well written, how deep the emotion, how sad and lonely the life..

tomorrow WILL be better, if we choose it to be!

The only time i'm a believer in 'suicide' is when a body is forced to endure too much pain, or when kept on the earth due to 'miracle' of science..

not all miracles are miraculous, eh?

sadly, i could not in good faith click 'interesting' 'awesome' 'funny' 'beautiful', or 'useful'..

but, i can of course share, share, share..

love and life and peace Cowboy..

I think most people can relate to feeling like they are alone or invisible in their pain. The ocean has a way of calling souls in search of healing. While the title "Suicide by the Sea" might scare some, I think you captured the thoughts of someone hoping to be sucked out to sea and returned on the shore problem free.

I see this beautiful little poem has created a little contradictory emotions among its readers and rightfully so. I am tempted by tis beauty though, and that slow, almost seductive rhythm, like the kind of peace that descends on us when we finally surrendered our pain. No more struggle, as it has been offered up to the sea. Its like a little death which is not only symbolical but real, in the energetic sense of our makeup. I have had many little deaths and I am glad of it. There comes a time when a part of your old self no longer serves you, so you watch it die, thanking it for all that it has done and all the pain it had caused, but grateful for the growth of wisdom. There is much power in wiping off the old and starting with a clean slate. Die, and is reborn. xo
