Sunday, July 2nd

Updated on August 22, 2014

On Sunday, July 2nd,

things got truly bizarre,

she shot a man and woman

who were just sitting in their car,

she was wired up

and then it got strange,

she shot her pleading husband

at point blank range,

between the eyes

it was a perfect hit,

and she laughed about it,

she continued shooting as she walked

up the street,

fired twice at the mail lady,

knocking her off her feet,

she was in bad shape,

and the shootings were captured

on surveillance tape,

you could hear the detective

on the police radio,

I shot her several times

and she wouldn’t slow,

the voice came back in static chatter,

how many times did you try?

I’m telling you, it doesn’t matter,

the crazy bitch won’t die,

I shot her in the head twice,

the detective would sigh,

that day was dark and loud,

several riot cops lined up in front,

and if you were standing in the crowd,

you would be looking at a false reality,

you’d be thinking police brutality,

as they all fired several times,

you closed your eyes thinking

the police were committing the crimes.

Great Poem, well done. Perspective or lack of it can be everything. I am always amazed when I read articles that discuss how often eyewitness testimony is inaccurate. (And we convict people on the basis of eyewitness testimony and DNA evidence often overturns those case.)

Don't know if your read Malcolm Gladwell (I highly recommend his three books - staff writer for the New Yorker). He has several chapters on perception and perspective and how easy it is to be wrong when we are so sure we are right.

      Interesting concept, interesting poem.

That's because the Greeks and Romans were the only European civilization that did not have qualms about anything..., again, enjoyed the hub...

There you go brethren, it's the grim reality of the life we are living in and again I will repeat myself joining with the great Marley and say, if we are ever thinking it's the end we are so wrong , it's just the beginning.

It's a frightening reality. Great write.
