Sunrise Over Shadow Moon - Dramatic Poetry

Updated on June 3, 2012
Sunrise | Source

Poetry as expressed by Dmop

Dawn is breaking yet remains unbroken.

Ideas exchanged yet words unspoken.

Beauty seen through my eyes.

As sunshine gently cries.

Away the darkness of yesterday.

I am thankful as I pray.

My ears perceive the days new sound.

Another splendor I have found.

The new day brings upon its eve.

As I search I now believe.

I can too smell the morning air.

It leaves refreshed with out a care.

I thank the breeze for blowing by.

A gift of serenity from the sky.

I taste the bitter sweet regret.

I let it go but don't forget.

Yesterday is left behind.

A new days grandeur I seek to find.

Sensational day I can almost touch.

And feel its life as it is such.

Again I pray and thank the Lord.

For this day on his accord.

More About Me

I suppose what prompted me to include an additional section is the fact that the scores on all of my poetry seem to be quite low, and perhaps that is due to a lack of content. I'm not particularly concerned with my Hub scores, but it could have some effect on the number of readers that find my writing, which is something I am concerned with. I want to share what I write with as many people as possible that is the reason I have decided to start publishing my work on HubPages. I am a writer, not professional by any means, but a writer none the less. I enjoy it, it helps me to organize my ideas about life and to become more clear on my own philosophical views of the world around me. I enjoy writing about philosophy, and religion and symbolic ideas that are difficult to pin down to an exact point of context. Perhaps, that is because I prefer to stick to maters of thought rather than facts. I don't mind doing some research, as many of my Hubs have required much of it, but I would rather spend my time expressing my views and contemplating those expressed by others. I also like to write poetry and music, I have played music in a band in the past, but with 7 kids I just don't have time for it any longer. I do still love playing and writing music as a hobby. I am a web designer and network administrator by profession, though that is not the only profession I have been a part of. I spent over 15 years in the masonry profession, specifically stone masonry. To me being a stone mason is also a type of artist and allows much personal expression, as there is no exact method of laying it and every project will be unique. All of the pictures of the stone work are of my work, I have been out of the business for several years though I might consider a side job from time to time, if the price is right. If you have read this far Thank You for your patronage, I hope I haven't bored you too much. Have a wonderful day and God bless.

TheLastBabyBoomer, This started with the idea of incorporating the five senses into a poem. I thought what better way than to show my appreciation of the new day. Thank you for your generous comment and votes, I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. I hope your day is fantastic.

Sunrise Over Shadow Moon was a beautiful way to begin my morning. You have put into words the peacefulness and tranquility and beauty of a brand new day, a new beginning, another chance. I have seen some amazing sunrises in Arizona you capture those spot on. You have the ability to bring your words to life. Thank you. Voted up, beautiful & shared.

ExoticHippieQueen, Thank you for the read and for the wonderful comment. It's odd to me that poetry scores seem consistently low, yet mine at least, get the most views. I enjoy writing, and you are correct that is the most important aspect of it in the end. Thanks again and have an awesome day.

Theresa, thanks so much for your support of my writing. We all need a little constructive criticism from time to time. If used wisely it can only help us to improve. Your comments have given me some ideas of how I can improve the experience for my readers, and for that I am grateful. Thanks again and I hope your day is lovely.

dmop, do not underestimate the value and gift of your poetry here on Hubpages and elsewhere. Poetry is the low man on the totem pole it seems compared to "how to's" and other types of articles. Your content is very beautiful and meaningful. As for your stonework, that is beautiful as well. You have many talents. Not to mention 7 kids! Don't be discouraged about writing poetry. I can see from this piece that you are a deep thinker with a beautiful soul. Keep on writing for your own personal enjoyment and satisfaction. Others will appreciate what you do, but that is secondary.............

dmop - Beautiful and heartfelt poem. I enjoyed it a great deal. I am going to make a bunch of what I hope are helpful suggestions. If you would rather this not appear for others to see, feel free to delete it after you have read it. It will not hurt my feelings.

      1) Don't be discouraged. A lot of poetry gets "low" scores and HP is never going to fully explain the mathematical algorithm they use to rank everything. But we do know they prefer hubs between 300 to 1500 words in length. So with a short poem adding some prose in addition, talking about the poem or a related subject is a good idea. (personally, I would have divided the More About Me section into 3-5 paragraphs).

      2) Part of what the algorithm measure is how long someone looks at your hub, so more words, longer time. But, people also linger over maybe instead on one gorgeous sunset, how about a series of nature photos that run the length of the hub? Or do a hub that alternated horizontal sections -- picture, text, picture, text, picture, amazon books, picture, RSS feed, picture, etc.

      3) The information and pictures about being a stonemason were fascinating. You should turn that into a separate stand alone Hub. You can absolutely emphasize the artistic aspects of that.

      4) Do you ever go back in and slightly rework your HUbs and then send them through the feed again? Examine a variety of very successful hubs for their visual appeal, format, artistic layout, etc. Then take what you have learned and apply it to your own work.

      5) You can SHARE your own work, just not too often. Some people never share their work, some share constantly which HP doesn't like and then there are those of us who share 1 or 2 of our hubs about once a week. Good comments and SHARING other people's work (make sure it really is worth sharing, of course) will often result in them doing the same for you.

      6) Also think about the timing of when you publish something. I publish crafts, recipes, helpful hints, sewing stuff -- 9am to 2pm when more women, stay at home women are on-line. If I have a heavier topic I wait until between 7pm and 10pm. I don't publish until I think it will get the best audience. I find more serious hubbers (who leave helpful comments read Monday and Thursday evenings...not so much on weekends...people are spending time with their kids, working around the house, going on dates, etc.

      7) You have seven children! I think it is incredibly impressive that you manage to find time to writ at all! I raised three boys and that kept me pretty busy (well, that and going to graduate school) but I didn't tart writing on HP until long after they had moved out of the house.

      8) Personally, I spend very little time in the Forums or asking/answering questions (they may help generate a higher score, but they don't improve your hub). I put 95% of my time into writing good hubs, reading selectively and leaving quality comments. It works for me. :)

If I can be helpful I would like to; if I am irritating the life out of you, just say so and I will cease and desist and just make regular comments on your Hubs. Blessings. phdast7 / Theresa

Its great you write poetry and music as I find both go hand in hand rather nicely. I don't see why your poetry scores seem to be low. I thought this peice is beautiful. Its a very good and deep peice of work as I can see it comes deeper from the soul. All poetry should. Thankyou for sharing this!!!
