Sunset,

Scarlet and gold,

In bright crescendo swells;

Of God's great majesty it tells.

In breathless wonder we see it unfold:

Sign of His care through life's dark shades.

Grasp the mem'ry, while yet

The glory fades -

Sunset.

Sunset: Second Try

Sunset

'Ere night glows bright,

Flames on a soothing sea:

And I pause, raising eyes to Thee:

Symbol of God's heart-peace falling on me.

Promise of His care through dark night,

His great love is the key;

He holds me tight:

Sunset.

      These are wonderful Blossom, I can't choose a favourite they are both so beautiful. They say so much perfectly. 'Flames on a soothing sea:' love this line.

      An excellent photo too, I love the Gold Coast, my favourite place on earth.

      I read them 4 times, 3 for the pure pleasure and then to count your syllables.

      This line is a syllable short, hope you don't muind me saying.

      'God's great majesty it tells'

      This is easily fixed by adding 'Of' as the first word.

      Can I make another wee suggetion too...on any hub, if you hit the enter a couple of times after the last line it will pull it up and away from that 'ads by google'

      You did well and I look forward to reading more from you

      "God's heart-peace falling on me". Nothing could be so perfect as this. Your words and picture expressed it perfectly! Beautiful!

      Rosemay 50: Thank you so much for your encouraging comments. I've edited the poems and hope they look better now.

      BilJ777: Yes, it's lovely to take the time to enjoy the peace of a beautiful sunset.

      Wolfieworldwide: Thank you. That was the view from my balcony when I lived on the Queensland Gold Coast.

      froggyfish: Thank you. It would be wonderful to think that our lives' sunset could be as peaceful and glorious, too.

      Beautiful poem. I love your reference to a sunset being a symbol of God's peace and his watch through the night. There's something about a sunset's light and color that brings peace to one's mind. What a lovely picture you posted to connect the reader to the poem's message. Thanks for the comforting reminder.

      Blossom you have the best way with a word and the metaphors are so vivid that they don't need a picture although beautiful and sunsets are my favorite gift of nature, it is a dreamscape in itself. Brava Ms. Blossom!

      Thank you for the follow. I do so agree that sunset each day - and as we travel nearer to the end of our lives - is a great, ever-changing canvas painting to remind us of our wonderful Creator. Blessings.

      I always feel close to God when watching the sun rise or set.

      Happyboomernurse: My mother used to draw our attention to the sunset by calling us to come and see 'God's beautiful painting in the sky,' and saying 'He never makes His paintings exactly the same, they're always fresh, new and changing.' Thank you for you lovely comments.
