Sunset Thoughts

Updated on June 14, 2013

Good Enough

Another sunset paints the sky a dusty rose

As I stand here on the lawn just to watch it drown.

With each day's passing, this ache inside me grows

Until I'm reduced to pieces on the ground.

Was I wrong to want you? Well I'll never understand

But you tell me that you care- was it all a lie?

Do you think about me? Has this glass run out of sand?

Will I ever see the stars light up your eyes?

(Chorus)

Well this lonely feeling is like a black hole

Draining all that's good away..

Taking all that's left of my self control

And forcing hurt to stay.

But if you don't love me, just let me go-

It's time to call your bluff.

And honey, while you hold her, I need to know

Why I wasn't good enough.

Confusion's building as the stars come out to play.

I yell my problems to the moon like he's a friend.

Even if he listened, I don't know what he'd say

And I just can't help wondering if it's the end.

There was no beginning, I guess I knew it from the start-

You had her and she held you and that was that.

So maybe I should take these pieces of my heart

And just count these blessings that I never had.

And this lonely feeling is like a black hole,

Draining all that's good away.

Taking all that's left of my self control,

And forcing hurt to stay.

But if you don't love me, then let me go-

It's time to call your bluff.

And honey, while you hold her, I need to know

Why I wasn't good enough.

Oh love... why wasn't I enough?
