Sunshine Waves II

Updated on April 28, 2012

Glint on summer’s ocean

Blue skies all around

There’s a party going on down on the beach

Watching here so safely from my shade tree

Coconut shells, drinking, dancing, laughing

I can’t help smiling

People, hugging, playing, running on the white sand

Nothing in this world

Can keep the heat from warming all the hearts here

Waves crashing on the sand

Pounding gentle rhythms into my ears

The day you walked into my life

Everything changed for me.

The funniest thing is, you never even knew it.

You brought this sunshine

You plucked my heart strings

You made me want to try to move beyond myself

You wouldn’t let me hide away

And since then I’ve had this smile.

I see you dancing on the edge of my world

Smiling, bringing me out

Dancing on the edge of my world

Smiling, you wonder why I don’t just go dancing with you

And playing in the waves

The beach is sparkling

The sun is shining

The waves are rolling out the rhythm of

That classic salsa tune

I can’t help but follow you

Only you

Can pull me out of my world

Make me dance on this island

I feel the rhythm

Steel drums jamming in the sun

guitars playing sexy music

Before I know it

I’ve left my safe space

fallen into your arms

You’re holding tightly

Ah, but we’re moving

I feel the music in my heart

The drums in my soul

And I’m not falling

You’re holding tightly

I feel the wind in my hair

As you twirl me in the sand

A splash of ocean spray

Blinding sun in my eyes

And I’m not falling

You’ve still got me.

I laugh with delight

Move with you through the sand

And yes we’re dancing

You’re still smiling.

Mike and Genna, thanks so much for visiting me again! So glad I was able to share something so fun with you. Yes, Genna, I'm dancing, one step at a time. But I'm smiling :)We all deserve to be happy my friend. I love spring.

Erin – how wonderful! Yes, we take one dance step at a time (nice of putting it), but ohhhh what a dance. :-) I am so happy for you.

Beautiful poem; there is happiness, and there is discovery in these words, and you deserve to be happy, dear friend.

Well, Ruby, I'll tell you this...its not completely fiction. It's just not on a beach! You know how I love the beach! The smile, coming outside of myself, his smile...All real. You know me, I have to take it one dance step at a time. But no, I've learned that I can't just stand and watch life go by...I have to really engage and really let myself feel happiness if I expect to find it. Letting go is a wonderful thing. I guess we are never too old. Hugs my friend!

I love this Erin, so romantic. I hope it is not fiction, I hope you are not standing and looking on at the party. I hope you are dancing and having a ball.To find happiness is a blessing. Dancing barefoot on a sandy beach, aha I recall. Thank you my Dear Friend...Hugs
