Surprise! - haiku

Updated on October 8, 2012

This is for two of my good friends, each expecting a little bundle of joy later this year. First for one, second for the other.

Candlelight dinner.

Warm night. Stars are in her eyes.

Baby on the way!

And they keep on coming ...

Both friends now have darling children. And I have family with babies on the way. So I thought I would add a few more little poems....

Mommy’s tummy searched.

Looking for tiny heartbeat.

Oh, Dear! There are two!

Chatter of child’s play.

Best friends sharing toys. Silence.

Crayon covered wall!

Dad’s up early. Kids

are in the kitchen making

mom’s breakfast in bed.

Laurinzo - thank you. It is such a beautiful thing when a new life is created and nurtured. I am honored that I was able to portray it in my tiny little poem.

Faith - I am just as blessed as they are. I spent the afternoon with one of them and her 1 year old daughter. I am helping her unclutter the house to make room fo the new baby on the way.

Hyphenbird - That is a sweet idea. I have thought about writing a poem for each of them when their baby is born.

Bill - Thanks for sticking around to read my little diddy. Funny how I delayed your computer shut down today. I was late meeting my friend because I was posting this haiku. I told her she had to forgive me because I was late beacuse I was writing her poem :)

Bob - Thanks. These little suckers are addicitng! I like that they force me to say a lot in a few words.

suzettenaples - Glad you liked it. I was looking for photos to compliment the poem and had one of those "aha" moments when I saw those.

Very nice thought, Dana...haiku is ideal for conveying this type of message and emotion.

I was just going to shut down the computer and I saw your name pop up. The picture of the baby is precious! Any haiku is better than any attempt at a haiku by this boy. Have a great Sunday my friend!

Ah, how sweet. Discovering that precious life is growing inside one is an awesome moment. Your friends will treasure this forever. It would be cool to paint it on the nursery wall!
