Suspension pending termination letter sample, example
Here is a suspension pending termination letter sample. These types of letters are often written where there is a pending investigation into the incident for which the person involved is being considered for suspension. The nature of this type of letter makes it very difficult to write. But experienced administrators in human resource departments usually have pre-written templates that they just fill-in to produce the letter. This letter can be customised to fit different situations quite easily.
The reason for suspension in this example letter is because of involvement in a fight at work. If the employee is to be given the opportunity to explain their side of the story, they are normally informed of this in the letter too.

SUBJECT: Notice of Suspension Pending Termination of Employment
This letter serves to give you notice that with immediate effect, you are being placed on a six-day suspension pending an investigation and subject to discharge.
This action has been taken because of your participation in a fight with another employee during work hours. As you are aware this sort of behaviour is not acceptable in the workplace and management has decided to take action according to the terms of your employment. Under the terms of employment such behaviour is prohibited and there are severe consequences for those involved. Even though you denied starting the fight when questioned this afternoon, you admitted striking the other employee. Retaliating with physical violence is not an acceptable type of action in the workplace.
Consequently, we will investigate your involvement in the fighting incident in the next 7 days at which point you will be given the chance to explain what happened. You will be informed about your employment status at the end of the six-day suspension period. Please sign below to acknowledge receipt of this letter and to indicate that you understand its contents.
