Swelled Egotism

Updated on July 3, 2012

Lost in your own admiration

Appreciation of none but self

Flaccid is your intellect

Its mete is worn with dread

Steps you take haughty and steep

Jeers and sneers, cruel but meek

Your rash smiles question your dexterity

Useless boasting, no credibility

Using fear to subdue

You stomp on fellow hearts

Dillusioned in your anserine self

Killing potential, you’re scarred

But boisterousness you always fall to

And coldly leave its path

Painful it might be for you

Lest you are feared to face its wrath

I can relate to your poem as I have worked people whose egos caused a negative environment. But they did not last long. You did a great job on this one.

      Savour but a touch of what you possessed;

      Your chances are dim,

You can't stand upon those suppressed,

Amidst treacherous seas you choose to swim,

      Fear what you have become,

      Were you ever humble?

Eaten alive by your chosen egotism,

All will watch your eventual crumble.

Beautifully done Rahul; sadly the world is filled with those who underestimate the ability of others and believe themselves to be God. Still I guess we should be thankful to them; had they not existed neither would this expression of emotion.
