Swing up into the saddle...........

Updated on October 25, 2014
Notice the rainbow in the picture ?
Notice the rainbow in the picture ?

As I look down at my feet the heavy
dew of a Montana morning
glistens on my chore boots
there is a chill on this morning
breeze as the
sun hasn't yet risen above the
rim of deep canyon

We're getting ready to ride across
the high meadows
up onto the rim itself
across shale mountainsides
through shallow
creeks and on into
the sun

I look at the horses some of them
half asleep some ready and
pawing at the dirt beneath
them and wonder
will it all go okay today
I say a silent prayer for
the horses
for the riders
and swing up
into the saddle

Eric I took this and many pictures at a guest ranch called Deep Canyon Guest ranch in Choteau Montana this spring ! Dylan . The nineteen year old boy [man ]wrangler at the rear of the line of horses was our guide for the week ! Outstanding vacation ! Dylan is jockeying between an education and being a wrangler , I told him to do what his heart tells him to do . I kinda hope he stays a wrangler , at least part time ! Thank you and I hope you still ride !

You nailed here and it brought me right back to the fall of '75 when I rode for short pay and loved every minute. Each break of dawn is the perfect beginning. Thank you
