THE FOUR BEST BOOKS ABOUT WHITEY BULGER
Have you ever heard of Whitey Bulger? If you haven't, you soon probably will. James
"Whitey" Bulger was arrested in Santa Monica California last year after a long run of hiding from the authorities. A career criminal, James Whitey Bulger was the leader of the notorious winter hill gang in Boston that was at the height of their power in the 1980's.
Having lived an hour from Boston my whole life, I have listened and read many stories about Whitey. Whitey Bulger's life story engulfs a section of Boston in which he terrorized and got away with many illegal activities for many years. Bulger was a sociopath who ratted out just about everybody and had few true friends.
Pretty soon Bulger will come up for trial. Are you a mob book fan? Do you want to know more about Whitey's story before for what surely will be at least the trial of the decade. I have listed the four best books on Whitey Bulger. Amazon is a great place to buy books and lists many reviews for each one of these books. So far I have read the Brothers Bulger by Boston radio personality Howie Carr and it was a great read.
Here are the four best books about Whitey Bulger:
THE BROTHERS BULGER
This is the book to definitely buy.
The Brothers Bulger was written by Howie Carr a veteran Boston Herald reporter who has had an almost obsession with the Bulger brothers for years.
In the Brothers Bulger, Carr chronicles Whitey Bulger's rise to power in the criminal underworld of Boston. At roughly the same time his brother William Bulger becomes president of the Massachusetts state senate. Two brothers who took different directions in life. Trust me, one can not make this stuff up.
In this book Carr also describes in detail some of the brutal crimes involving Bulger and his gang which were enabled by the corrupt cop and Fbi.
BLACK MASS: THE TRUE STORY OF AN UNHOLY ALLIANCE BETWEEN THE FBI AND THE IRISH MOB
Black Mass ia another book penned by Boston newspaper reporters. Boston Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neil gives us this gripping account of the relationship between Fbi agent John Connolly, Whitey Bulger and Steve Flemi. After Bulger and Flemi helped wipe out the Angiulo family, they pretty much went on an unchallenged 1980's crime spree that included extortion and murder.
BRUTAL: THE UNTOLD STORY OF MY LIFE INSIDE WHITEY BULGERS IRISH MOB
Brutal: The untold story of my life in. Kevin weeks was part of the muscle in whitey Bulger's winter hill gang. In fact weeks over time became one of Whitey's closest confidants. Yet, others say that Weeks was completely controlled by Whitey. Reviews on this book have mostly been good.. Weeks has a first hand account on what happened in the inner circles of the Winter Hill gang.
STREET SOLDIER: MY LIFE AS AN ENFORCER FOR WHITEY BULGER AND THE BOSTON IRISH MOB
This book is about Edward Mackenzie Jr.(Eddie Mac) who was a drug dealer and an enforcer for Whitey Bulger. Schooled in maritial arts Eddie Mac was a true mob leg breaker who really enjoyed giving pain to people. Eddie Mac's story is an interesting read because it gives you an account on how brutal Whitey Bulger really was.
