The Story Chair

Cool to the skin

Slippery to the cloth

Moulding one’s body

Into the story chair of gloss

Eyes wander out along the shaggy hill

Finding rest upon a timeline

Never complacent or raw

That, there is all that is to find

To the left lies a zig zag path of beige oats

Tasteless peaks and valleys etched into the ground

Erasing all that once felt full and lush

Much is lost and slid by, with astound

The cool afternoon sun flushes the skin pink

Swan’s beak held tight

Grace and swing, swiped past

Yet, all can be seen in the face of a kite

A hand lightly strokes

The feathers of spirit and hope,

Tenderness rising in the arch of the back,

Reflecting the sparkle in the eye that copes

Tentativeness and uncertainty murmurs,

Yielding the body height to that of a lover,

Laughter and moans obscured,

Yet, still felt in the stallions gallop undercover

Feathers of spirit and hope

Pausing and pondering,

Just like toes dipping into still waters,

Sopping waterholes made by the heavy summer rain,

The mind can now fly high into the clouds of mortar

Tough words swallowed back,

Poppies of pepper red and burnt yellow

Pass along the chain of handprints,

Where silent friendship bellows

Passing elder, caresses a face

As she croons a favourite tune,

Leaving a gift basket of purple grapes and red farmer’s apples,

Telling one it’s time for wine and pie under the moon.

The poem was my attempt at travelling through moments of reflection about big world events coupled and with emotional moments taken from my everyday life. Gracious of you to come on this journey of mine through heart and time. Peace to you, whonu.

I became lost in your colors and moodiness as well as the highly emotional conveyance. It was well composed for a very poignant read and by an evidently deep thinking author. Blessings. whonu

I checked black and then looked at my chair. Much like hair, it is almost all gray. This is a very fun read. Thank you.
