Too Good! Too Bad!

By: Wayne Brown
Don’t you love it when things feel fantastically good?
Wish it would always be that way…like it really should?
But it’s just like the short verses of an ol’ country song
Cause nothing really good or bad ever lasts very long
Couldn’t you just scream aloud and jump up for joy?
Knowing that you were about to get your favorite toy
Get it while you’re young, why it only costs a song
Cause nothing really good or bad ever lasts very long
You could probably just cry your eyes out at the thought
Of all the bad news the politicians of this land have brought
But we still got elections and we can still right the wrong
Thankfully, nothing really good or bad ever lasts very long
You job is driving you crazy, you wish you could just retire
But there was a time that you wanted to set the world on fire
The definition of success has changed…the words all wrong
Cause nothing really good or bad ever lasts for very long
Life is full of wrong turns, stubbed toes and scraped knees
Sometimes it seems we can’t see the forest for the trees
But that’s alright; we’ll get down the road whistling us a song
Cause nothing really good or bad ever lasts for very long
Money comes and money goes just as in affairs of the heart
It is so hard to figure out where to stop and when to start
But that’s okay; we’ll be coming back again just as strong
Cause nothing really good or bad ever lasts for very long
You finally find the girl of dreams, a pretty little flower
She’ll do anything you want, but you only have an hour
But gee, it just $200 for a little fun, what could go wrong
Cause nothing really good or bad ever lasts for very long
The dentist says you need a root canal…get it done today
He says the pain will worsen and your tooth will soon decay
But though your gums are deadened, the drill still sings its song
Luckily, nothing really good or bad ever lasts for very long
That annual trip to the doctor sure comes around so quick
And soon he has that glove on all greased up so slick
But you know you can stand it though it all seems so wrong
Thankfully nothing really good or bad ever lasts for very long

hmmm, good job WB. Don't know if my marriage has been too long, good or bad; fair I'd say. Been a hell of a long time for sure. I once farted for four minutes, way too long. ;)
Now I get the picture! When I first saw it, I thought it was a kid who got their fingers stuck together with super glue. Ouch! That would be bad to have super glue on the end of the glove.
Even with all the negatives, it is nice to see the positives in your poem. Cup is half-full.
Your right Wayne, good to bad or bad to good, nothing ever lasts to long. We just have to roll with the punches and live in the moment, I am happy to say, I am living in the moment, what else can one do when were sliding over the hill and working our way down:0) Great videos had me splitting a gut here..he he
Nice lyrics there, or is it a poem..lol
Your poetry combined with your music just blows me away; it’s always a good part of my day. Thanks again for sharing; voted up and awesome.
Truer words couldn't be spoken and couldn't be said any better than you just did. This piece is so upbeat in it's realism, that it has the power to cheer the down, liven with it's musical beat, and give balance and perspective to the lost. Very levelling, inspirational, relevant walk on the real side.
I love your poem, Wayne. Very inspiring. I wish I can find the girl of dreams, a pretty little flower. I hope I always optimist in life. Thanks for sharing this, my friend. Vote up. God bless you!

Is anyone else concerned about how close the barber has those sharp scissors to Ray Clark's eyes?
He tells stories like my papa used to. He was a silly old guy.
Loved the song, Wayne. Sang it all the way through, first time out of the chute.
But most of all, song or no song, I was falling out of my chair over Archie Campbell's bit--not sure if my Pammie's ever slopped her dripper or not, but she's definitely my Rindersella. Been too long since I'd seen that one.
Voted up and every button I could find.
Seems the bad lasts longer than the good sometimes.
Thanks, I enjoyed that poem. But that picture scares me.
Doctor, Doctor give me the news. He's got a prostate exam just for you. Ouch!
Had the fruits operated on for Christmas. Now it's the other end. Root canals are coming soon. I'm waiting on parts to fall off. Thank God nothing lasts long!
I love that rendition of John Prine's "That's The Way The World Goes Around". Thank you!
This hub has hope, Wayne. A genuine pessimist might lament:
"All the good I ever had just didn't last - it all went bad.
And all the bad I had all day never ever went away."
GREAT poem, Wayne. It's true. All things in life come and go in seasons. Good, or bad, they will always pass. That's the nature of life. Luckily for us, there is always hope for a better life. Even if it's just inside our own minds.
Well-written, great concept, I enjoyed it, as always :]
By the way, little side note...you spelled "scraped" as "scrapped". Sorry to point that out haha
Thanks for the Hub :]
An excellent hub and Norah Jones? Up and awesome!
This is great. Only $200 she better be good.
I love Nora Jones.
The fickle finger of fate!
Your words give true meaning to the idea of living in the present and enjoying the moment because nothing really good or really bad lasts for that long. You are amazing! Voted up and awesome.
