TWILIGHT'S MOMENT
By: Wayne Brown
The last rays of sunlight mark the close of day
The sun over the horizon steady on its way
Darkness blankets the land with a mood sublime
That special time of evening; it’s twilight time
Birds begin to settle into their treetop rest
Crickets chirp to one another with their request
A slight breeze gently brushing the wind chime
Special, special moments here at twilight time
The heat of day is gone as temps begin to drop
A Whippoorwill is lonely; his calling never stops
And off on the far ridge a coyote’s yipping line
All rolled into the moments marking twilight time
A peaceful easy hangs in the air; lingering around
‘Ol hoot owl begins to call; time to make his rounds
The night is waking up; the brighter stars already shine
We’re living in the special moment; it’s twilight time
The time when day gives way to love’s romance
The solitude of love into which two hearts dance
Gentle loving touch; a tender kiss; arms entwined
Fleeting love’s destination moment; twilight time
The pink, blue, and gold tones of evening’s sunset
A prize cast upon the eyes; a gift we cannot forget
The slow darkening of light into moon-glow’s shine
A time when everything is good; it’s twilight time
Time to lean back in the swing and take in this event
It is so short-lived; the time between came and went
God’s gift of evening painted on a canvas so sublime
A moment that makes life worth living; twilight time
