Taking Advantage of the Moment

Updated on April 25, 2012

For what cause

do you rise?

have you no pity for your fellows

see their faces

how they fall

see them short of their all

does it bother you to climb

when the ground

so solid

shifts them beneath?

Why should I.

I have a rope below

not mute

nor indifferent

knowledge over flow

I am an odd ball

not easily teaching

I demand as I am demanded

placing spikes according to my reaching

mayhaps closer together

I don't know those steps

how shall I teather?

No fear in my climbing

no fear must inhabit the follower

but the rope is still there

if few follow why should I care

there are others for the others

if they are determined to change

I am who I am

I am right in my way

but so are the others

who climb easier ground

though as to the possibility of the climb

I couldn't get up their way

so perhaps the roads lay the same

More follow them then I

not sure how its that way

should I care that it's so?

maybe another day.

Do you rock climb often then?

It seemed a fitting metaphor don't you think? I am glad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by.

I enjoy how this poem about rock climbing also discusses personal choices and the paths that we take. Thank you. Jamie
