Taming Wild Hearts

Updated on September 11, 2015

Wild hearts run wild

they never know what they want

and yours seems to have come and gone

don’t let your wild heart fool you

for someday you will want a love that is true

and it will be too late

too late for your wild heart

will have run out of time

running free and wild

like in the summertime

never stopping to think

breaking hearts along the way

dashing like waves against the shore

never stopping to pause

it’s time to tame your wild heart

while mine still wants to beat with yours

for someday you’ll be walking alone

crying in the night

wanting the love you no longer own

your wild heart will have run out of time

don’t be a fool

give your heart to me

I will treasure it forever

never let it run out of time

so stop your running

it’s time for forgiving

time for loving

and time to tame

that wild heart of yours

What a heart touching poem Gypsy, I enjoyed it. True, our life is all about a struggle between we and our hearts. Most of the time hearts appear to be wild if we are not vigilant. You have suggested apt remedies to tame such hearts. I think there is another face of a heart which is not that wild rather an obedient one, I would like to deploy the obedient heart as a solider to fight against the wild one. Then what...? obviously life seems to be a struggle between the two facets of a heart in the battle field of heart. The precious values, Forgiveness and Love, that you have mentioned, are the ultimate results of an obedient heart winning the battle. Thanks for sharing such a lovely poem Gypsy.

There are people who don't realise that love is there for them and sometimes their realisation comes too late.

Great poem, as ever. The sentiments are spot on.

Wild hearts do 'run out of time.'

Taming that heart so it can indeed beat in sync with yours sometimes escapes us...

So beautifully expressed so glad I saw this today

Angels are on the way to you this morning ps

All our hearts run wild at times. I love the way you have expressed it in your poem.

A wild heart, so difficult to tame. I like Roy. Great choice..

The thing about wild hearts is not only do they run out of time, but they never learn to love and hang on to it. Then, before you know it, time has passed and given way to regret.

Thank you Manatita. I think it's time to practice lasso roping.

Thank you Patricia. Sending back some blessings with those angels.

Thank you Blossom. Roy's song inspired.

Thank you Ruby. Many of his songs have inspired me.

So true Shauna and unfortunately there are people who live their whole lives that way.
