Poem: Tell Me

Updated on August 23, 2012
Source

This poem is based upon song lyrics that I wrote quite a few years ago about a friendship that is turning into love. At least once in everyone's life there has been someone who has been a true friend to you then feelings turn that into something totally different over time.

Do some people act on those feelings? Yes but I know that there are those folks who don't in fear of them losing their best friend. It is definitely a choice that has to be made ... do you tell him/her how you feel or don't you?

Verse 1

I wish I could tell you how much I care about you babe,

How much that you mean to me,

Without scaring you away,

Each day you're becoming part of m world,

You touch my soul so deep within,

If I had one wish to come true,

It would be to forever be with you.

Chorus

Tell me if I tell you that I'm fallin' for you,

Would you run away or would you stay,

Tell me if I tell you that I care 'bout you baby,

Would you shy away or would you stay?

Tell me babe, tell me babe

Verse 2

You know I've waited all my life to meet someone like you,

A man who's strong and won't do me wrong,

Keep his girl in a happy home,

You know what I mean,

We've been friends for some time now,

I don't want to lose that,

I don't know what to do and I'm so confused,

Don't wanna' rush, can't keep it hushed,

I've gotta' tell you how I feel.

Chorus

Tell me if I tell you that I'm fallin' for you,

Would you run away or would you stay,

Tell me if I tell you that I care 'bout you babe,

Would you shy away or would you stay?

Tell me babe, tell me babe.

Thanks Rosemay50, I am glad that you enjoyed this poem. Yes, it is definitely a hard choice to make whether to keep things simple or pursue a romantic relationship with your best friend.

Beautiful lyrics. It's certainly a hard choice to make, take it one step further and risk losing a good friend or just remain a good friend.

      Voting beautiful and awesome.

Beautiful hub and poem about a friendship that is on the brink of love.

You wrote about the angst of raising the stakes by attempting to cross the line or playing it safe by remaining quiet about the deeper feelings that are starting to surface.

Voted up, useful, awesome, beautiful and interesting.

I also love the romantic photo.

Thanks Karen ... these lyrics were actually written when I lived in Atlanta. I used to do a little semi-professional singing with a group and I have a few musical friends that I would do some studio work with a few years ago. Music, poetry and writing have been a huge part of my life ... I love the fact that I now have the opportunity to share these things on HubPages. Appreciate your comments & encouragement.

Nice. Do you have music that you write that goes with your lyrics? Voted up and beautiful.
