Tempest Fear

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Often I am my own corruption,

allowing doubt to cloud my course,

the incessant voices of doom,

echoing in my skull.

Fear dislodges good intention,

like a dam bursting,

unleashing plans in torrents,

too powerful to harness.

In moments

my will is decimated,

stripped bare,

all because of fear,

of failure.

How do I succumb

to such intangible probability,

a vague outcome of a bad dream?

When reality is mine to create,

without the dark whispers of folly,

the trickery of my shadow brother.

How do I choose,

the waste of failure,

because of indemnity,

the steps not taken.

When success is all I want,

how can I wear fear,

my doubts a crimson cape,

and I in shadow,

bowing to a dark master.

My storms are mine alone,

my internal conflict,

choices skewed,

irrational reticence

to live.

Learn I must,

from these deep lost discrepancies,

of my doubts.

For they are my weakest

implements of change,

my misguided paths,

ready to lead me

from myself.

Let recognition save me.

      Dear Tony,

Once again you had touched my favorite topic where I had written the following hub.http://venzkhvam.hubpages.com/hub/FAILURE-A-MUST-I... I am sure I will get your insightful opinion on how I had done justice on that.

Talking about your poem 'Why dont you make a book of your poem?" It is really worth publishing. the darkness and the steepness of failure and the shyness of the success is depicted very nicely.

Looking forward to hear from you soon in Bounce back from failure.

This poem cuts straight to the heart of fear. We all have the shadows to battle, I think, and overcome. Recognizing ourselves within ourselves is a definite catalyst of change.
