Thank you, My God - a Prayer Poem for you and me

Thank you, My God

The expectation for prayers to be answered, forgive me my God

But, I thank you for the power of prayer

Without it, I will not be speaking to you.

The mentally ill- they have cursed your Name, as they’ve done to theirs

But, I thank you God for not shutting your ears

For one day I am afraid I'd become them too, though I hope not.

The obsession to “rituals” your eyes cannot behold

Are performed by men in the disgrace of your existence

I thank you God, which you forgive them in their acts of false worship.

The sleepless nights that build up in bed, why is my mind troubled?

But, I thank you God for the chance to think and dream

The reality of it all that I am alive in your Name.

The faith that is other times misplaced, forgive me God

I may be undervaluing its potential values that lead me to you

But, I thank you for the reminders not to put myself down.

The greed that fills half the World’s emptiness in the hearts of men

I thank you God that there is more kindness in many too

That many aims to overcome greed and wish every man Godspeed.

An angel in prayer

The hatred for foe will make me just one of them, I know

But, I thank you God the grandness of forgiveness to love my enemies

For no man is an island, no man stands alone.

The desire of lust, to be tempted by a forbidden fruit and give in

You’ll cast me God, your mighty lightning piercing through the heavens

But, I still thank thee God for the “fruit” had promised sweetness,

unselfishly given me love as the other.

If only animals could pray too. But their innocence and purpose God put them in this World, give the animals a special place for their souls in Heaven.

The hope that has fallen into darkness, having much difficulty rising

I thank you my dear God for sending your angels lifting me up

To face anew and never to be afraid in trying again.

The sadness that has intoxicated the joyful spirit I was before

I thank you God for the sting of tears, its salty-pickled taste

For I know that sweetness is its counterpart, its opposite likeness.

God listens to our prayers and hear His angels' prayers. Each one of us have a Guardian Angel to pray for us. Remember to talk to your guardian angel too.

The misunderstanding of one mind to the mind of the person she loves

I thank you God for the “stardust of knowing” showered upon us both

That sufficient understanding has abounded in both of our hearts.

The stubbornness ruling oneself like the solidity of a rock, gives You sorrow

But, I thank you God for the virtue of patience to soften and lighten me

For there is nothing else that can take this trait of mulishness at ease, except patience alone.

"Please God, help my furry friends at the shelters find loving homes. Please protect and keep the other animals safe from harm. Please enlighten man from hurting my friends of all species for their greediness. Bless my masters God for they love me."

The destruction of nature right before your Divine eyes, Almighty Creator

I thank thee God, your Holy Name many men respect to help your unfortunate creations

To save especially more trees and animals you’ve put on Earth from their distinction.

The unfortunate deaths in children of war, the stolen lives of our loved ones, our soldiers who miss to come home, our good leaders assassinated

But, I thank you God for welcoming them to your Kingdom

For they have missed the fulfillment of life and others had served your Ways.

The will to live a life of goodness to revive your Holy Image from questioning its being

I thank you God for the right path to life and the understanding that I owe it to you

For one day, I shall hunger and thirst to meet you, eager to enter your Gates to Paradise.

A simple Childhood Prayer a mother would teach her child... Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray to God my soul to take. If I should live for other days, I pray the Lord to guide my way

The harmony at home, I pray for all the children of the World, the unity of a family

I thank you God for the parents who nurture LOVE to their children

For these children will follow in their parents’ footsteps and family craftsmanship.

And lastly, I thank you God for who I am and the miracles you have gifted me-

My beautiful children, a loving other half, and a pet bringing every day cheers

For without them, my life would be hollow and meaningless on where I stand today.

There is one more God, I pray, in death before I awake

May prayers be said for the untimely passing of my soul

And I thank you God for their sincere prayers, their reverence and faith in You

Will my soul be salvaged, to be freed from the torments in Purgatory

And an angel to guide and deliver my purified spirit to you.

FreezeFrame, thank you. I am humbly amused that the words weren't hard-thought message. With a prayer in mind, it flowed so easily just like when I say a prayer before bedtime. Once again, thank you for dropping by and leaving me a comment. :)

Very romantic. The pictures you attach message us that every single creature in the world pray to God. In my religion tenet, God says that ALL creatures actually do pray to Him. Romantic poem in a brilliant design of hub. Good job.

Thank you Michelle! Prayers intend to be beautiful too. If a prayer is sad and painful, there is still beauty in talking to God especially "alone" times.

It's B-E-A-UTIFUL, sis. I love how prayers are said coming from the heart. It is more like, personally talking to God....rather than memorizing the standard prayers which becomes routine and meaningless.

P.S. I love the photo of Meg, Mya and Meca praying...that made me shed a tear.

Hi my sis, Mis, hahaha! Truly as a regular experience, prayer from your own mind and heart is a solemn chance talking to God. Indeed, standard prayers are spoken or recited too fast now that it is becoming meaningless. I agree with you and I am giving you a thumbs up. And after that, it is blown away in thin air. The words don't stick in one's soul for long, not even after a mere moment from reciting the prayer, unless one is really pious in his/her devotion, it would also show on the way the person prays. Especially if you are in a miserable and sad state, our time talking to God is very different. It is pouring out of feelings and hoping for Him to comfort us. So, the connection is sincere and pure. What comes out from your mouth in your dialogue with Him (no swearing and cursing) becomes a prayer.

Keep the girls up to their prayers before bedtime. I love you.

Thank you, always exploring! Greed and selfishness are closely similar depending on how it is portrayed...then also, thoughtless/senseless is another branch of it. I would like to share to you my daughter's words from her experience at work. Here goes...

"Today, I cashed out an old couple with aspergers syndrome or something on the autism spectrum. By the way they acted, it was clear they had some sort of learning disability. However, they were out and about, buying DVD's, USB's, and other stuff. They made my heart feel warm and fuzzy, so I let them take their time counting their money (twice) while making separate transactions for 5+ items. After about 10mins or so waiting in line, a new customer came to me, rolled his eyes and said, "ugh, can you believe some people?". Clearly, he ignored their loud stutter and awkward tone of voice. So I informed him what they had and he finally shut up."

Here, "greed| is not just associated with hunger, of over-indulgence, consumption, and unselfish grasp. The man who was next in line had been greedy, selfish, thoughtless of his being impatient. One has to have patience, kindness and to be understanding towards others. My daughter had all the last three aspects which made me proud.

Your photos are most endearing and I love the way they combat the feelings you write about in the verses. The emotional battles are many, but you answered them with positive reflection.

Hi teaches! How are you? We become very emotional each time we fervently pray to Him because of the emotional battles, yes, the ones we endure and most kept in the dark. We want God to see, know and hear our pains. But it will be good if we don't fall into a pit, but still have hopes to get out of it and fear God from committing something grave.

Thank you teaches! It is always nice to see you around. Hugs to you!

By our trying, God reciprocates with His helping. We can all try to be good and leave the rest to Him. Trusting in prayer, we are able to build a very personal, tangible relationship with Him. Thanks for all the reminders.

And since prayer brings us closer to establishing a soulful (inherently beautiful) connection, voted this hub beautiful!

Dear Faith Reaper, prayers for me is not only for me alone. I do put myself last in my prayers, I always do. I recite all the thanks I could give before I have anything in mind to ask favour for from Him. At certain times, whatever comes to mind to be included in my prayers, this is how my prayers are formed. I think it is communicated to me because sometimes it is not the same (does not follow a pattern), it just flows out; or perhaps it is just the way I feel it. There are times when my thoughts take me farther to the world I do not know, and it is brought about in saying a little prayer from my heart and hoping God hears it, though I don't doubt that He wouldn't.

Thank you for voting up to the Heavens, Faith Reaper! with much love...~coffee
