Thanksgiving Feasts of Giving
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude for Abundance, Family, and Friends. During the Holiday season, we often think of our families or the lack of family and friends. How blessed is a person who has one at least to call family or friend? In the Spirit of Peace that ushers in the time of year, the following is a poem.
Open up your hearts now and then to others who may not have active family and friends with whom to meet and revel in and be that to them in the end--family or a friend--adopted kin.
The Autumn of each blessed Time
The fa - mi - ly hearts meet to dine
Upon the cherished love Divine
We enjoy the Feasts of Giving
Faces shining full of wonder
Loving sounds echo like Thunder
Hugs from children Aunties plunder
Happens at the Feasts of Giving
Gratitude shown in circled prayer
Holding hands, Thanks for all who's there
Blessing food--amens everywhere
To begin the feats of Giving
Following feasts, we say farewell
Kissing kinsmen our hearts do swell
Our memories will never pale
Of the thoughts of feasts of Giving
Scriptural List for Thanksgiving
Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen.
2 Corinthians 4:15
For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you. Yea, and I also exhort you, my brethren, that ye be watchful unto prayer continually, that ye may not be led away by the temptations of the devil, that he may not overpower you, that ye may not become his subjects at the last day; for behold, he rewardeth you no good thing.
For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.
3 Nephi 10:10
And the earth did cleave together again, that it stood; and the mourning, and the weeping, and the wailing of the people who were spared alive did cease; and their mourning was turned into joy, and their lamentations into the praise and thanksgiving unto the Lord Jesus Christ, their Redeemer.
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Doctrine and Covenants 89:10-12
And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving. Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless, they are to be used sparingly;
