That Inner Voice

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

In the silence of dark retreat,

we are true, our own pariah,

lost from life and prostrate,

vulnerable and open.

Do we see or do we delude,

is the question,

that inner voice exuding truth,

discussing what we are.

Our thoughts are clear,

they rise from the womb

of our soul,

ever considering, ever realising.

Who can accept that voice,

that truth, that reasoning,

telling us our fears, our veiled reality,

who we truly are.

More than not we turn away,

unable to face our fears,

are darkest disappointments,

the recesses of our clothed reality.

Yet, there is freedom in truth,

acknowledging imperfection,

and the possibility of renewal,

the remedy of loving potential.

That voice is my saviour,

my inner path of redemption,

the epiphany of being human,

and accepting forgiveness.

I now commune with my voice,

so I may be free,

to love myself for not just who I am,

but for whom I can become.

Fear is the clothed body of denial,

and I shall not deny,

for my own sake.

yes, facing our darkest fears bring disappointments but in doing so takes a lot of courage...
