The 22-Year-Old Male Who Writes Lyrical Poetry: 'Diamond Eyes'

Updated on December 8, 2016

Diamond Eyes

A sister,
Who was never given to me.
This girl's a pretty little crazy thing.
Had her world shattered,
A few thousand times;
So cries herself to sleep,
Amongst sleepless nights.
A diamond in the rough,
Of a goldmine.
Loves like the ocean,
Where her world unwinds.

It’s painless to say,
How we relate.
Fake-faced smiles,
Glazy eyes,
And those tears behind.

We won’t come out to play,
During the daytime.
Like an owl's eye-sight,
It just works that way.

But I hate to see the way you get-off,
With every other worm you find.
I read their betrayal,
And it pains me inside.
You don’t know the grade,
Of your own diamond gaze.
It reflects in the light.
And belongs to another,
That shines as bright.

Like everyone else,
In my life,
So kind.
I see a self-destruct button,
That you spam each time.

Hearts get broken all over the place,
Stone walls crumble,
But get replaced.

I know that it’s hard,
I can read between the lines,
And I can see it,
In your diamond eyes.
Of the strongest mineral -
Unbreakable.

Proof - last night.
A most vulnerable state of mind.
Told me that you’re worth the time,
And i’m sorry how you’re dying inside.

A summary of things,
Made clear,
Here tonight;
Never you dare,
Give up!
I swear.

To my treasured little partner in crime.
There’s never a night,
We need say goodbye.
Because each and every time I,
Look to the bar,
But won’t find you there,
The vodka will get doubled,
In your name, I dare.
And my glass will hit the ice,
To remind me of the haze,
From your diamond eyes…..

This was sad. However, I thought it very positive that two people could have that special connection. I hope you let Kayleigh read this. It's a beautiful ode to her; a very lovely poem as always Darius. :)
