The 22-Year-Old Male Who Writes Lyrical Poetry: 'Maintaining Masquerades'

Updated on December 8, 2016

Maintaining Masquerades

One day i’ll get better than this.

There’s one more out there,

For me,

Not his.

And while I sit here,

I feel your breathe.

On my shoulder,

You never left.

Was there,

But now she's gone,

Away,

Somewhere,

I hear;

Your cries,

There,

In the distance.

Still in the heir,

Your vibe,

It glistens.

So we’ll maintain,

This masquerade,

Live it,

Throughout the years.

And wear our hearts,

Still on our sleeves.

But one day we'll get better than this.

Just a shame,

I won't see it,

It is.

There’s one more out there,

I know there is.

Though it’s you,

I’ll always miss.

All those times,

We'd delayed,

And hide.

Disappears;

Away,

But you’re always there,

At home,

But all alone.

On my shoulder.

Forever.

You never left.

A very sad love story. I felt the pain and desperation of wanting to move on. However, optimism is not there to find someone like her. A tortured and beautifully written love story in a poetic form. You, my young friend, are very talented. I really love reading your work. God Bless!!
