The Affliction of Thought

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

The affliction of thought is complete,

we spend half our lives trying to master it,

the rest trying to avoid it.

This incessant mental chatter of which we are endowed,

weaves reality as we walk through the world,

each step a slave to our dreams, realisations

and projections of perceived truth.

Like vessels on a sea of possibility,

thought drives us to consideration and action,

steering life into the unknown darkness of our will,

the secret hallowed halls of potential,

and the purgatory of indecision.

Thought is our blessing and our burden,

the achievement of intellect and triumph,

and the failure and suffering of emotions,

each the master and creator of future.

Balance in thought and action is our quest in life,

to utilise potential without implosion

and the breakdown of the duality

between what is possible and what is destructive.

Thought is like a wild brumby,

filled with vigour and intention,

yet often too free to tame into purpose.

To control thought is to control life,

within the calm freedom of what is possible.

we can't control our thoughts to flow but we can control the thoughts that go with it...the mind can wander endlessly unless we put real purpose to it...what a brilliant hub Tony...
