The Soft-winged Rainbow of Nature

Updated on July 6, 2013

I can see the beauty and splendor
On the wings of a little butterfly
When fluttering in the quietness of the day
On a hush of a sweet lullaby.

Such wonderful creation of artistry
That made the butterflies I see
For I know God could only weave
Such things with grace and majesty.

He gave them beauty so rare and new
Their soft wings adorn the hues of the rainbow
In the stillness of the fresh morning dew
All my dreams, joys and tears

Are suspended beneath their silver wings.

I really like your butterfly poem. Butterflies are like flittering and ephemeral beautiful moments in time to be savored, if ever so briefly, but long remembered. Voted up and beautiful.

I've read somewhere that the average lifespan of a butterly is only a month (20 - 40 days). But yet, they lived each day with so much beauty and helping flowers.

Have you seen the movie "A Bug's Life"? The caterpillar starts rough and when he thought his life was over, he was surprised to become a lovely butterfly. As bravewarrior said, we humans also need to develop ourselves to become who we are.

I, too, love butterflies. I liken them to the metamorphosis we go through. We start out a little rough, and explode into these beautiful creatures with something to offer. They blossom much like a flower from a seed, or pod. And so do we humans. We need to develop ourselves to bring beauty and wonder to all who see us. And we to ourselves, most importantly!

@ larry, you are so amazing! i really really like your comments because you're always digging deeper and find hidden meanings on simple words and phrases that the lips refuse to speak. We feel it on our hearts that God's love is always present. Look around, isnt the world beautiful?..

You tell a story we should all understand, that the beauty of God can be found everywhere, on the wings of a butterfly, the small of a person, the laughter of a child and stars at night and the morning sunrise. More importantly, we can see the beauty of God's love in each other and even if ourselves, if we are willing to look and willing to accept.

      Excellent work.
