The Autumn Leaf

Updated on July 18, 2017

The lonely soul , broken and burdened,

like the autumn leaf withered and mottled.

Solitary it is, drawn and deserted,

like the dried leaf of a tree no more held.

The abandoned leaf moves with the wind,

making rustling, plangent sound.

Just like the mourning loner,

who alone moves around.

      nice...good use of personification

I like the phrase mourning loner - and it has a nice double entendre when spoken

You captured the beauty and the sadness. I felt I was in the middle of autumn also through your chosen image. Lovely.

Hi Debangee, I love the picture and your poem while almost like a song sounds a little sad. Sounds like how my old age is creeping up on me.

      Blessings to you.

Beautifully written. I feel autumn in the evenings now. The seasons keep on keeping on, and we are all just spectators.
