The Best Time To Call Mom

Updated on May 25, 2012

Anytime She Answers

I have been blessed with a very unique mom

She is four eleven and then some

All my life she has always been there

I could talk to her about anything

We laugh and joke and find life so interesting

We have found many ways to share our own mistakes and make them outtakes and bloopers

From our life as if it was a movie

I find the time when I am off work

To share one more moment

When my work is busy I can't wait

Hearing your voice is the best of all

It is not what we do that matters

It is how we share the littlest things and make them the best there is

Over the years many mothers become distant from their sons

I am the lucky one

She has never broken that bond

We are never too busy to stop and chat

I squeeze you in on my break while I am eating a salad again

You talk to me inbetween ice cream bites

You let me know if it is going to rain and fill me in on the news

I tell you how my work is crazy and you share your stories

When you were younger and the years that you have worked you knew only too well

Both our lives are simple and we don't have any fascinating stories to tell

It doesn't matter and we don't care

When your soft voice is heard over the phone

All things in my life seem so much better

The years have aged us but somethings will never change

My love for my mom who has a sweet laugh

So if it is grocery shopping or browsing in any store

You still have spunk and zip

I am in my late forty's and you are in your early eighties

This way you always stay young

I will always be your youngest and very proud of that

Many things in life happen without an answer

So I continue to look to find a clue

Years ago you loved to do crosswords

We would play cards or scrabble

Now your eyes aren't as good as they use to be

So you gave it a rest

It is o.k. I am having trouble seeing the small print too

So our lifestyles have changed even though our interests have remained the same

Where we go next is all up to you and I know it will be whoop, ha and hollar
