The Betrayl

We locked eyes so long ago,

I knew then,

I loved you so.

You fell for me,

I fell for you,

we were meant to be.

Everyone could see.

We married soon,

right after we met,

people said it was a choice,

we would regret.

The years went by,

I trusted you.

I couldn't see,

what was true.

I don't know when,

you stopped loving me,

you with her,

was all I could see.

When I found out,

about the other girl,

my body went numb,

my mind a whirl.

Why didn't I question,

all those late nights,

why didn't I know,

something wasn't right.

I couldn't let you go,

let her have my love,

I tried to keep you,

I loved you so.

Everything we had,

through all those years,

you were throwing me away,

you didn't care about my tears.

So you say we are over now,

sending my mind in a stir,

that she's your love now,

you want to be with her.

I won't let you go,

to be with her,

I'll see you dead first,

I'll put a gun to your head.

You went to her,

You were caught,

I wouldn't let her have you,

so I aimed my gun,

and took the shot.

Now she can't have you,

because you're dead

I didn't miss,

When I shot you in the head.

Amazing what emotions are released when love is challenged. I know some of these feelings but not the wish to shoot. Great poem with great portrayal of love and hate.

Thanks, too, for the follow. I hope you're recovering well now and I'm looking forward to reading more of your hubs. Ann

I'd never shoot anyone either. This poem is a poem I wrote about relationships that go south. I have been happily married now for 30 years. We are renewing our vows on a cruise ship in December. Thankyou for liking my work enough to read and comment on it.

A heartfelt poem. Sometimes we just don't want to believe what is happening so we close our minds and hope it isn't true.

A very interesting poem, sometimes love can make us blind to the truth of reality. Because our love was so strong for that person we don't want to believe what was really going on.

    Vote up and awesome !
