Family Trait - The Crooked Big Toe Photo ~ A Limerick

Updated on March 06, 2016
Faith Reaper profile image

Theresa is married to her high school sweetheart. She loves being a role model for young women and couples and writing of her family.

Every family has those same traits that are passed along. My son is amazed by the similarities he finds in his first newborn daughter in comparison to his own.

Crooked big toes being compared. Ha. Yep. Like father, like daughter - crooked.

Those Same Crooked Shaped, Long Big Toes

A photo is taken of toes

My son’s and his daughter’s it shows

Those toes make him proud

He is just so wowed

Forgets that he reaps what he sows

My son will be in a heap of trouble when my granddaughter becomes a teenager and that photo is still around!

Wait a minute, what am I talking about, as I am publishing it all over the World Wide Web?

Poor dear, we are not making it easy on her future.

I will say that she has grown into her toes quite nicely, and they are very beautiful toes now.

Adding myself the joy of a friend. How beautiful. Your son must've been thinking, " What is mom doing in that site...until so late?"

Your Limerick is superb. Seems that you already capture the essence of Mhatter's "knack-of-the-matter." Way to go Faith!

Sometimes I will go to the mall and get a manicure and I see these little tots getting pedicures! I wonder how they can work on those little toes! Your limerick reminded me of that.

Maybe you should take your granddaughter for a pedicure when she is old enough and take a picture of that! And DO post a pic on hubs with a manicure limerick! Blessings, Sparklea :)

Lord - Good Evening - I am catching up late again. I have granddaughters up this weekend, and the sweet "Big Toe" one is wound up! LOL No, she has grown into her toes quite lovely now. Now for my son, I really should have cut his off the photo, as he has some wacked out toes for sure!!! Ha. Thanks so much for adding yourself to our joy!!! It is always a lot more joyful when you join us. My son would not have a clue whether I or not I was up into the wee hours of the morning this morning, as I am sure he was zzzzzzing probably before his girls were. The terrible condition of the "Big Toe" really does run in our family, I am afraid. Ha. When his daughter was a newborn, she really and truly had a big "Big Toe, " and the "Big Toes" curve too. Ha. Well, I am sure that is enough with the "Big Toe" interesting subject matter for today!. Have a lovely evening. Thanks for the great encouraging comment. appreciate you so much. God bless In His Love, Faith Reaper

Hello Ignugent - Good day to you too. I am so glad to see you visitng for the photo shoot. Ha. I sure hope she will get over this photo long before she is a teenager. Hey, that's an idea, we can start showing it to her now, as she is just four years old, and by the time she is a teenager she will have adapted, but having had two teenagers of my own, one being a girl, I have my doubts. We will all just say how proud her daddy was of seeing her toes, and he truly was amazed is what is so funny about it, as she was his firstborn child. And I can relate, as every little thing about them, you just think is so amazing, as it is! God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Yes, I have read and commented on some of your limericks of late, and they are always really good. You should add a spooky video to the one you are referring. If it is the one limerick about one not being able to read the end of the book due to the pages missing - then, yes, and that is a really great one! I did comment on that one. Hi Marlene, - oh, what a lovely comment, and babies are no doubt miracles. Well the daddy's big toe . . . not too sure about? But Scarlett's - she is the baby in this photo, and the one who crowned "Paw Paw." LOL If you look closely, you can see her big toe is really big, well actually long is a better word. Hi Funom Makama,

I am so sorry, I knew it was you who commented and not Lord De Cross, please forgive me. It's just that I know LDC's writing style so very well, and your writing style is so alike, in that when LDC writes about interesting cities around the world, etc., sounds just like your writing to me. Plus LDC also uses "we" when he writes, as well. I know you are most likely already following LDC but ,if not, you should, but you two may be in competition with each other (or you may be unable). Smile . . .

Anyway, back to your visit here on this "Big Toe" photo hub - Ha, I really appreciate your kind comments dear one. Yes, it is very short, as it is a limerick. As I stated in my previous comment that was meant for you, I am just enjoying her being a precious little girl right now, as I know she will grow up so very fast.

LOL We all have that same family dreaded trait! Ha Ha Ha. She will be upset with me when she is pre-teen or a teenager, but that will be a long while from now, as she is now 4 1/2 years olds. Maybe it will be gone forever by then. . . well don't know about cyberspace. Oops.

      Dearest ps,

Thank you my dearest friend. The past five weeks, my mother has been through a lot and now Hospice is being called in. I thank all for your prayers. They are saying three to nine days. She keeps pulling out the feeding tube, and they are now not going to remove the stints as something could rupture, nor put in the feeding tube in her stomach as she has so many varicose veins in her stomach, they could rupture and she would bleed to death on the table. She was alert and said she no longer wansts the feeding tube down her nose, etc. She has Parkinson's and her throat muscles are not working well enough to swallow food orally, plus with dementia too. We are still going to keep trying to feed her orally, but the food could go down her windpipe and . . . well . . . God bless all and I thank everyone for praying. I praise Him for allowing me to be blessed with the sweetest mother in this lifetime, and I know of no other stronger person on this Earth. In His Love Always, Faith Reaper

Amazing how something as simple as a baby's toe next to her father's can evoke so much emotion. Of course as you continued on and brought humor into this lovely little poem I have visions of your granddaughter saying, "Oh Dad, really? Grandma put this on the Internet?" Of course with love and a twinkle in her eye!

      Hi Mary (till),

So glad for the visits here to my woes of toes hub! LOL Yes, families do provide much humor, especially from the little ones with much joy in this lifetime. When my first granddaughter was born (a little over five years ago), I was shocked at just how amazed my son was with his newborn daughter's toes looking like his toes. LOL Well, her toes are much nicer and I should have cropped some of her daddy's foot out of the photo. Yikes ...LOL

I know that both my son and I will pay dearly for placing such on the Internet for all to see ... when she becomes a teenager, although she already has her daddy's sense of humor.

      I appreciate the votes up.

      Hugs and love, Faith Reaper

Haha Faith. You've been reading my limericks, so I had to read one of your hubs and this was the first I saw...a limerick about toes. I like it..made me smile.

In my family it is bent little fingers that is hereditory. I have a crooked little finger on my left hand, so does my daughter, and also two of my grandkids. So here's my version...lol.

A fellow whose finger was bent,

Was quite a self-conscious young gent.

      Til his baby girl's pinky,

      Was also quite kinky;

He then thought it was Heaven sent.

      Blessings.

Haha, John, yes, I thought I would highlight it being I had been reading your limericks too. Glad it made you smile ... that was the purpose hee hee, although my granddaughter may not think so it if is still on here and she discovers it when she is older.

I was so surprised at how fascinated my son was with his first baby's toes and how they were so much like the rest in our family hee hee.

LOL ... I love your version, "Heaven sent" ... so true : )

Thank you for reading. I tried to highlight the other, my first attempt at a limerick that is below this limerick, but it will not come up on my drop down list, although it is a featured hub? I asked a question about it.

      Blessings

      Hi Sha,

Hahaha ...Yes, seeing that photo still makes me smile. I just couldn't get over how enamored my son was with his firstborn's big toe looking just like his and he had to have a photo LOL

She may not be too thrilled with her "Nanny" in her teenage years about that photo being on the world-wide web!
