The Burwell House Mystery Part 19

Updated on December 29, 2011

Stumbling over fallen branches, Ron and I made it to the Screaming voices. "Thank God, please help, help my girlfriend Linda. We were just walking and something is pulling her. I don't know how much longer I can hold her hand before she gets sucked into the creek. I can't see it, but something is pulling her in. Oh my God, what is it? I don't understand?" Ron jumped right in and started de-escalating the situation by talking calmly to Linda. "It's gonna be ok, we'll make a chain and get you out. Tell me where your from and something about yourself." "I'm Linda and my boyfriend Joel and I are here at the Burwell house for a staff retreat this week. We're from Eau Claire, Wisconsin."

"Please help me, it's pulling me harder, something has my other leg now. Oh God, please don't let me die." The only noises heard were chirping frogs, crickets and a soft murmur, sprinkled with Joel's soft whimpers. I knew Courtney was praying, but this was not her prayer I heard. The murmur became louder and louder and sounded like an army walking towards us. Coming down the street towards the creek, came a group of fifty or more people. Flash lights in hand, one of the men spoke out, " Courtney and Ron, the online prayer chain is a powerful force. Five thousand members joined in one day. We were all reciting the prayer of protection like you suggested, and then, this is what happened. We were led to come to this very spot. "Rick, Ron shouted, start adding to our human chain. Grab hands everyone and don't stop saying the prayer of Protection.

May the love of God enfold us,

The power of God protect us

The presence of God watch over us

Wherever we are, God is, all is well

There in front of us, in the creek next to Linda, appearing out of nowhere, stood an old wooden cross. "Courtney, the cross is back, the cross we saw that day that disappeared. It's back and it's glowing that golden color we've had visions of, Ron exclaimed. It's working everybody, the prayer is working."

Above our heads, we saw it, we all saw it. A lovely young child, surrounded by a golden orb. Trailing off in the distance, we could hear her sweet voice. "The creek runs through it." We could see her translucent spirit body as it dissipated into thin air.

Linda gasped for air as tears streamed down her face. The crowd fell back onto the embankment, pulling Linda with them. Joel cradled Linda in a protective embrace as the two sobbed in relief. The crowd cheered, knowing Linda was brought to safety. Holding hands, the group formed a circle as Tom and Louis led in song.

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
