The Burwell Mysteries- Part 9
As we entered the bed and breakfast to meet with Louis, a handsome blond man in blue and white striped overalls with ocean blue eyes, Screamed out from behind the kitchen nook. "Hello there, you must be the student interns from Stout University, welcome to our home." We answered him with a gregarious "Yes." Ron asked, "What do you do here?" Tom laughed and told us he and his wife Louis owned the historic Burwell Bed and Breakfast. In answer to your question Ron, "I do anything and everything here," putting out his hand.
"Let me properly introduce myself," as he wiped his hands off on a towel that was dripping with egg shell white paint. "I am Tom, Tom Elverette. As you can see, I am finishing up a paint project before the summer guests arrive. We are glad you have arrived safely. Louis will be here to take you on the tour of the estate. I would come along but as you can see, I have a lot of work that needs to be done. The event schedule for the catering business is booked out solid. Nice to meet you two. I will catch up with you later Ron, you and I have a lot of ground to cover. No pun intended." He had a contagious laugh that had us holding our stomachs. He seemed to have such a lovely sense of humor. "I am looking forward to it sir, so glad to be here." "Ron, no need to be so formal. Just call me Tom, I may be in my forties but I am as fit as a fiddle and as down to earth as you can hope for." Laughing, Louis walked into the kitchen and said, "I see you have met my better half. You two, don't pay him any mind, you will get used to him and he will grow on you in due time."
Louis toured us through the B&B to start us on our summer internship. What an enchanting estate, I exclaimed. I felt as though I was walking back through time into the Victorian Era. The house was filled with lace curtains, dated rocking chairs, rugs, antiques,Vintage Burwell family pictures, ice boxes, porches, votive candle lights and more. The house had such a warm feeling within it's boundaries. I felt like I was home. I could not explain it but I felt I'd been here before. Scratching the top of my head, the point at my crown chakra was as hot as a heater. It felt like the sun was shining right through the top of it. I would later share this news with Ron when the tour was over.
Louis took us through the last room which was suitably named, "The Grand Dining Room." The corridor leading into this majestic space, emanated a feeling of history and great wealth. The Immense room made me feel small in comparison. I felt like I was gliding across the newly polished wooden floors. "Courtney, You and I will be serving our guests in this room and the outdoor patio's, if they so choose. The other dining rooms are in the courtyard beyond the trees there, as she pointed her finger outside. We are equipped to host several parties out in the court yard and cater mostly weddings, banquets, and other events for the City of Minnetonka."
"As we talked about in the interview Courtney, you will only be required to manage the Events, every other weekend. I want you to have some time off so you can have fun and see what Minnesota has to offer. I have another staff person, Lynn, managing the catering on the alternate weekends." "Louis, thank you very much for making us feel so welcome and at home." "Your welcome my dear, it's so comforting to have capable, bright, psychology students helping us with the business. Tom and I have a strong feeling business will prosper with you two here. We admire the goals you have chosen for your internship at the homestead.
Racing back to our bunks, Ron and I got settled in our rooms then met outside my guest house for some cold lemonade. As we sat on the wooden patio deck, I pulled out my Nikkon Camera. "OK Ron, we are going to look at the pictures together. Lets go back to the beginning of the camera escapade. We both saw the cross in the creek when we headed for the coffee shop. Afterward, we noticed the cross was gone; It just vanished into thin air. Then when you and I checked the camera, we saw a golden orb where the cross stood. We both saw it, and if we both saw it, then it was real. Let's look again and make sure what we saw was really there. Ron's hand trembled as he clicked from one picture to the next. In the camera's view this is what looked back at us: Picture one: Golden Orb- Picture two: Wooden Cross- Picture three: Cross melded into a golden orb. "Whoa Courtney, this is a cryptic message, but from whom?"
"We need to go into my room and investigate what it is we are being led to. I have my books out, my laptop and our internship goals. You and I knew we were led here, every sign we followed, confirmed this. The Burwell House Bed and Breakfast is where we were meant to be this summer. We knew we were to focus on the highest good for all. We learned we would attract the right internship through the power of thought, intention, and attraction. Didn't you notice how excited Louis seemed that it is us doing the internship here? They told us one of the biggest reasons they chose us for the internship was because we were studying the book, "The Secret."
"Ron, you have to feel the top of my head." Ron touched the top of my head and as quickly as he put his hand on me, he pulled it away. "OK,what's that about." "Ron, I have some explaining to do. "It's going to be a late night, just so you know."
However glorious an action in itself, it ought not to pass for great if it be not the effect of wisdom and intention. Francois De La Rochefoucauld
