The Butterfly Box

Updated on March 20, 2015

The Hydrants Are On

Do you hear the kids laughing?
	The hydrants are on!
The day is so hot you could melt.

The water is gushing.
	It's cold and refreshing!
It's the best that we've ever felt.

This won't last forever,
	Soon someone will call!
And the cops will come shut it down.

But while it's still flowing,
	We'll enjoy every drop!
And be glad it was our part of town.

Watch out for my pet
He's bulky and thick
His eyes are beady and set
And his actions are quick

He's stealthy and smart
He knows what he needs
He can rip things apart
And make beds out of weeds

He runs very fast
He shoots like a star
His spin really lasts
But he never gets far

Don't stick out your finger
He might take a bite
And if you possibly linger
You can lose it outright!

I went to feed my goldfish,
But there was nothing in the bowl.
Not a bubble, a ripple, or tail swish.
Just a big empty, watery hole!

I wondered what happened to fishy,
			Oh where did fishy go?
			And then I saw kitty,
			Just sittin pretty,
Grinning pure as the fresh driven snow!

Really cool! I love the poems, they are funny and Olivia said "awesome". Olivia said, "I know what happened to the fish." lol Keep up the good work.

      Blessings to you.

Thank you! That was actually my first idea ... I have these and more written in a book ... I just never followed through. Maybe I'll be discovered here!

Very nice Sister ! They seem like they could be poems in that book we used to read as kids. A light in the attic... You should write your own book !
