The Calming Bodhi Tree
The Bodhi Tree
Each part of the Bodhi tree is a lasting symbol of peace.
Strong roots
Sure beneath Soil
They lend strength from below
Grasping loose dirt and filling it
With peace
Rough bark
Of stoic trunk
Against all odd and even winds
Blowing with rigorous fervor
It stands
Branches
Lithe limbs that reach
The frantic birds that panic
Now a resting place for their angst
Secure
Green leaves
Shaped in small hearts
Enfolding butterflies
Fluttering with anxious quiver
Comfort
Sweet fruit
Lingering taste
Brings caterpillars joy
Lulls them to slumber as they draw
Sweetness.
Have a peaceful weekend, all!

Thinking about the bodhi tree makes me think of Siddartha Gautama sitting beneath one as he awakened to his understanding of life and what it means to be a Buddha. Thank you for writing this!
