The Coming of May

Updated on February 21, 2016

She raised my hands up high

to embrace the warm sun

she heard his name whispered on a breeze

reminding her that their love

is just as gentle and mild

as the coming month of May

he listened to her words

as the spring rain gently fell

he knew that they would be

enjoying all the April showers together

with kisses wet like early morning dew

and he knew

that their love would see them through

right into the month of May

when flowers bloom all around

and trees are no longer bare

Oh they did dare hope

that at long last it would be here

that wonderful month of May

as the April rains

continued falling

they danced between the raindrops

watching the last rivulets

of melted snow

like silver-white streams

rushing to and fro

waiting for the rainbows

that would fill the skies

making it a most colorful world

a world that was filled with joy

they’d be loving one another

beneath the blue skies in

the merry month of May

Glad you enjoyed this Shauna. Guess what? Tomorrow is the first day of spring and today it snowed. Hope you're having a great weekend.

This is such a happy poem, Rasma. I can almost feel the spring in your step (no pun intended!).

Marvelous poem. I think I like the anticipation of Spring as much as when it gets here.
