The Couch

Updated on March 1, 2011
Source

Here so completely

With one foot out the door

I breath a sigh when I hear

Familiar foot falls exit

Your cold motor groans

I safely rise scurrying my chicks

Out from the warmth of my wings

Sleepy breakfast eyes don’t notice

Blanket and pillows neatly stacked

A single night

A ruse of

Propriety and currency

Becomes five times thirty

Suspended in time

And geography

Displaced by this

Economy

Until an opportunity for

Permanency

But what of propriety

And currency--

Of one foot out the door?

I understand completely

I think I get this. But what about: "your cold motor groans." ???

He'd sneak out of the house before my kids were up and I'd hear his car start, that was my "the coast is clear" signal.

Wow RB! Pretty cool point of view of something that people in my experience usually keep on the "hush, hush".

      I liked it!

      Very nice Randy.

You are so good at placing us in your moment. One can feel the tension and with you as you gather your "sleepy eyed chicks."

It feels like an old Brando movie, but real life where where we share the pain of no resources, no solutions, and only dismay amongst brief moments of minor relief.

      I love it....

Ahhh bbnix you have explained the recession! A donut when it is a luxury taste 10x better than the ones you can afford to eat everyday. Some times life is "in" the relief. Thanks for that :)

      Moment by moment

      Just being in the moment

Its where mind and soul exist

If we suspend time(live in the past) we don't ever live a life experienced...rather one that forever thirsts for something that may not ever come.

The pain and sorrow we live through isn't without its purpose....sometimes we just need to lift the shade and learn to hide with in the sunny days... not hide from them.

Enigmatic, does this poem imply I'm living in the past? I strive daily to bloom where I'm planted I assure you.

No DrDSpade, not a one night stand. More of a couch surfing situation that went on for 5 months. Glad you liked it though.
