A note of thanks to billybuc!

The Holiday Plan To Darjeeling!

" Shimla, Ooty, Mussorie, Nainital, Darjeeling and Shillong"

__The names of these hill stations were written on small bits of paper and now was the time to pick one of the names where Raj and Priya Would go for a holiday.

Raj and Priya were planning a holiday since long but were not able to find time from their busy schedule. They had been married since the last two years and their love for each other had grown deeper and deeper.

This marriage anniversary they wanted to spend some beautiful moments amidst the beauty of Nature but were not able to decide which one and thus this picking of chits.

They called the little girl of their neighbour to do this job and were excited to know the result.

''Darjeeling'' ~~!

~~~She said and the couple looked at each other. It is a bit far from New Delhi compared to other hill stations but all the same, the verdict was out and they decided to go with it, as promised to each other.
As soon as they landed at Bagdogra from Delhi and took a cab for their destination; there was a strange sense of familiarity all along the fog filled highway.
Both Raj and Priya were puzzled as well as excited.
"Have you been here earlier---- that is before marriage?" asked Priya.
"No, never----!"
"But it is so surprising that the place looks so familiar to me." said Raj.
Priya was quiet but strangely she was feeling the same way.
How was it possible that the highway seemed as if they had travelled together earlier. Whereas the truth was that they had an arranged marriage and did not know each other earlier than that, leave aside travelling together.
The fog started clearing with the beautiful Sunrise in the hills and the couple got engaged in taking pictures of the lovely and serene landscape.
They wanted to capture each beautiful moment in their camera.
The Mystery Of Those Mountains!
Raj and Priya were eager and excited and wanted to enjoy each and every moment of their beautiful road trip along the gorgeous green valley on one side and beautiful hills on the other side.
Slowly the fog cleared completely and they were able to see the majestic mountain ranges all along the drive ~ ~so magnificent; so powerful; yet so calm!
But again the strange sense of belonging, of familiarity made Raj and Priya uncomfortable.
On their way towards the guest house they could see ---
--An abandoned railway goods train!!!!
Tthat made them curious. They got down to inspect it but they were in for a surprise.
An elderly man was passing by and he started staring at them with the expression of recognition on his face. Before they could ask him anything , he started walking fast and within no time got vanished somewhere in the nearby farmland but not before Raj and Priya could notice the feeling of scare and surprise on his face as if he had seen some ghosts.
And The Mystery Unfolds!
As they drove alongside the green farms, something strange caught their attention---
---A deserted Barn!!!!
One could hardly miss it among the lively and fresh green fields.
And here they spotted the elderly man whom they had noticed earlier besides the abandoned goods carriage train.
But he was not alone. Along his side was an old woman and both were curiously staring at them only.
Raj and Priya had to step out of their car to satisfy their curiosity as well as their own.
The two elderly persons looked at each other in astonishment as the couple came near.
Their wrinkled and Sun tanned faces were a clear indication that they had seen a lot in life.
"So you are back, Rosy and Jimmy!!!", murmured the lady in a quiet voice.
"Back!!"---Raj and Priya almost reacted together.
"Do you know us? How? I mean, I have never seen you or met you or even been to this place earlier." Raj said almost in one breath and Priya nodded her head affirmatively as if asking the same question.
Both the elderly persons directed the couple towards a place in answer to their question, where they were going to have the surprise of their lives.
A Graveyard!!
"Rosy and Jimmy were deeply in love with each other and lived up there in the cottage ," the lady pointed towards a green hill.
Lot of small and beautiful cottages could be seen there.
"The preparations for their wedding was almost complete but as fate would have it, they met a fatal car accident near those mountains, just three days before their wedding." she said in a trembling voice, her eyes full of tears.
" And you want to say that we are Rosy and Jimmy, lying there in that graveyard?!!" asked Priya, trying to control the nervousness in her voice.
The woman nodded her head in affirmation.
"But how do we believe that? I mean I don't believe in the theory of rebirth!!" said Raj in response.
"You will! Once you see their photos." declared the woman.
She took out an old black and white photo from a crumpled envelope from inside an old and worn out bag.
Raj and Priya held their breath. They stood there for several moments, in stunned silence, just staring at the pictures that the old woman held in her hand.
Yes, it was exactly them in the picture!
"Even God Helps To Reunite True Lovers," said the old woman with tears of joy in her eyes.
      This was an intriguing story. Both beautiful and mysterious. I really enjoyed this one, Chitrangada. I have enjoyed all the stories you and the others have written from the challenge billybuc posted. I wish I were brave enough to join the challenge, but I find myself a little uncertain about my ability to write something interesting such as yours. :) I think I should stick with poetry and prose. I really loved this. Great Job!
      Chitrangada, I love this story! Spirits, reincarnation and the paranormal in general are intriguing topics for me. I find my own writing following that path quite often.
      I don't know if you're aware of this, but here in America, we have a sitcom called The Big Bang Theory. One of the character's name is Raj, who has a sister named, Prias (sp?). Not quite your lady character's name, but close enough.
      Anyway, great story! Bill's going to need at least two days just to read all the entries!
