The Dark Rapture

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Engorged with blood in blissful daze,

the ghouls of death in night pervade,

with lifeless empty bodies strewn,

life transferred in shadows gloom.

While death in distant thought of dreams,

allows a sleep with faith redeemed,

of those tucked safe in cosy beds,

adrift from dark and evil heads.

And with those thoughts of joyous life,

rest careless of the doom that might,

in dreams of hugs and smiles plight,

remain embraced in precious life.

While those in dark and dreary thoughts,

immersed in fear and hateful sorts,

do cling to all that creeps in night,

with wild minds and deathly sight.

Tis choice that pleads our attention here,

our wishes all that life can steer,

ever-drawn by the dark and light,

manifesting in our daily life.

What stills a heart or cracks it fair,

is of our choice and how we care,

visiting vast and dangerous lands,

or accepting love our future stands.

The ghouls of night impart one thing,

that within us their dark hearts sing,

and how we will their beastly feast,

is within our blood our fear released.

The dark rapture awaits,

for those with the stomach for it.

The depiction of troubled minds is really difficult. You have done it well. The underlying little word of help too comes out nicely. Quite a risky poetic venture. Voted up and interesting.
