The Decision of Happiness

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

With sorrow piercing a longing heart,

the arrows of brothers and sisters impart,

a torment alive but without remark,

a groundless hatred sting.

Without incitement or challenge made,

a vile and acrid affront cascades,

when I removed amid tirade,

the harshest onslaught ensues.

I often wonder what I have done,

in peaceful rest my viewpoint stunned,

when no-one gains, no battle won,

just venting fury unleashed.

What hateful anger so triggered snaps,

and I onlooking into my lap,

to bare the brunt of hostile trap,

for reasons unexplained.

In truth the stress of human life,

can twist a mind in seeking strife,

acceptance denied and anger rife,

no understanding claims.

In all our hopes for a peaceful world,

we relent on us to strive and earn,

responsibility for all we do,

a loving mind expressed.

For it is up to us in the face of spite,

to offer love and for harmony fight,

not add to woes by contentious might,

where egos complicit thrive.

Through love and understanding learn,

our kindness for one another earned,

an open heart and mind discern,

the potential in us all.
