The Divided La

Updated on June 8, 2012

I set afoot In search of my destiny

Know no milestone no path

I climb a mountain steep and unruly

It leads me to an uncanny aftermath

Perplexed I stand, stunned I behold

A way cut through, to two more it unfold

Wrecked alone I crave help of my Ma

I stand alone affront the divided la

The first one I see, I see through clear

It has smooth cut grass and ripe fruits to bear

Water in patches and places to rest

A path made easy, no hardship no test

But I do not see the end to these walls

I do not see land, no speck of sun falls

Shall I take thee or not, I ask thou in awe

I stand perplexed, affront the divided la

Source

I look over the next one now with unease

Laced with thorns and nails

It smells wet paint and grease

Troubles me to find its trails

But there the golden spot and brown land I see

I see the blue velvet of sky as I talk to thee

Shall I take thee or not! I give a moan a caw

In mysterious duality I stand affront the divided la

Lone I stand no one to aid

Destiny’s jeopardy I face

Should I take the path smoothly laid

Should I walk the thorny space

Resonating twixt my heart and intellect

To choose ‘tween the easy and the one few select

I know not thee, thou lie ahead, but I shall make no flaw

I take the path which few select across the divided La

Beautifully composed my poetic brilliant poet. You choose the La as the fork in the road beckons us for choices to make in our journey through the great divides in life. Turmoil, strife, pain, shock and surprise, yet we follow with the hope of finding a La that will give our heart and soul rest and peace. Voted UP and shared.

Rahul, my good friend, you never cease to amaze me! You are absolutely one of the most talented poets I know. In fact, I relate more to your poetry than that of historical poets published so long ago, with whom's names we are all familiar.

I'm pleased and proud you chose the path which few select. If you hadn't I may never have had the pleasure of calling you my friend!

      Kudos, my brother. Love ya!

Another cracking poet, Rahul. A similar theme can be found in Robert Burn's 'The Road Not Taken.' In his poem the choice of taking the road less travelled gives the impression of just being curious.

Yours, on the other hand, acknowledges the soul-searching and uncertainty we face when making life-changing decisions. Our head is telling us the smooth path is the direct way to Easy Street; but our heart tells us the rockier path will bring us to our true desires.

I found myself willing your protagonist to take the rocky road. Yes, it's more arduous and full of heartaches. But it's the journey that forms our character and makes us feel worthy of finally achieving our ultimate goal.

You are so young to be so wise, Rahul. I know that you must first think it to say it. Your words not only reveal your strength of character, thinking outside the box, but your ability to hone in on the eternal dilemma that separates the courageous from the weak. You are very gifted. Thank you for sharing your gift, dear Rahul. Words like yours have the power to change the world.

Very twisted train of thought and not sure of oneself at times type of poem, LOL. I'm not sure what the "La", is but what ever it is, it has that person so undecided all throughout the poem.

Interesting technique, I guess the La is something left up to the readers imagination, and for that your poem is truly powerful because to me poetry that leaves one to have thoughts to ponder on, scores in a huge way with my poetic detection agency. Awesome stuff! Rahul

Nice one once again and keep them awesome hubs coming, voted up!
