The Elixir of Life

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

A smidgen of hope,

the essence of will,

a pinch of our dreams

with compassion and still.

The brew remains wanting,

its power incomplete,

a cup of pure trust

and its closer to be.

A handful of empathy,

a spoonful of faith,

appreciation brings us closer

not relying on fate.

A measure of sharing,

no judgement to bare,

the mixture getting closer,

but perfection, I fear.

An ingredient’s missing,

the binding effect,

the potency wanting,

one last human act.

The power of love,

without which we would fail,

this recipe for humanity,

of life it entails.

The Elixir of life...

Drink of it often.

      Very powerful and truthful piece.
