The Emotional Maelstrom of Life

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

As impractical as they may seem,

the emotional throws of hardship,

are inherently imbued with truth and revelation,

each moment a feast for a soul of learning.

Emotionally we are like leaves in a racing torrent,

at the mercy of the flow and saturated in the moment,

our sensibilities overwhelmed,

and our consciousness focused in the now.

Clinging desperately to anything still,

it is our nature to save ourselves,

to relent on the heart and to stand fast in reason,

our only mechanism for control.

Yet it is this very decision that creates delusion,

divides what we know with what we want,

and in doing so casts us aside from the truth,

the core of emotionality unconsidered.

Control is always the motivation,

seeking that firmament of steadfast security,

knowing the parameters and periphery of our lives,

so that we may feel at ease.

Yet ease is no paradigm for any life,

and it is the struggle in conquest

that bares the most poignant gifts,

the very foundations that define us.

Emotions are the canvas on which we reveal our true selves,

the truth in action and the perseverance of a soul,

to attain enlightenment,

and in understanding, accept our true state of being.

The maelstrom is simply a prelude to serenity,

neither of which is any less than the other,

both a gift, a teacher and salvation in waiting,

to an open heart.

Glad you so connect to my thoughts dghbrh. That's the wonderful thing about HubPages; we put our work out there to be scrutinized, and when it connects there is a profound reward in sharing our hearts.
