The Empty Chair In Front of Me

Updated on May 17, 2012

Lost in the silence which often screams

The life thrown away like rotten creams

Discarded, Despised, hauled Away

Withered, Distraught, no swings to sway

Speaks stories of damnation with nullified glee

The Empty Chair in front of me

Marble Castles, The masters dwell in

Throw away helpers like scrap of tin

Haughtily Laughing Pride in thy sneer

Set lives in despair, Heartlessly then jeer

The cries it sees, hears all the plea

The Empty Chair in front of me

Hearts of stone, Pearl studded lasses

Waits for one, love his of high classes

Black the heart, disloyal she whole

Comes, Sits, Stomps, Leaves the innocent soul

Bluntly cries, loses love of one too many

The empty chair in front of me

Disgusted, Gnawed with a broken leg

Barely stands, moans… then creaks a beg

Cursed to degrade, gain pain with time

Seating greedy masters and lasses of crime

Meek, Weak, in forged chains, not to free

The Empty Chair in front of me

Wow, Rahul, you are truly talented! What a beautiful, yet sad and mournful poem. It speaks of tragedy not only on a personal scale, but of the decrepid way society and many governments have conducted themselves. For what? Greed? Ego? Control? Or is it lack of self-esteem and drive to do good for oneself and the world?

Your poetry is so very deep. Voted up, awesome and beautiful!

Tis true the sadness in this piece is riveting. I felt every word. So many people suffer under the rule of castles that house the rich, greedy and powerful tyrants in our world. They subjugate and torture poor souls and toss them aside like dirty rags.

You my poet have a gift of expression and imagery. We both scribe from our souls, ours Muse's are pleased when we scribe. I am pleased to read you amazing work. A young poet, me and old one. LoL Voted up and shared.

The empty chair speaks through you and it's words are harsh but true, exploitation by the rich of the poor, it happened through the ages and is happening still. This is a compelling piece of writing with strong images depicting this haunting message of twisted power.

Your skill with words is endless, Rahul, all my votes to you and sharing.

This is very interesting, and I have been trying to think of how to describe what this poem meant to me.

When I read Vincent Moor's comment which said "many people suffer under the rule of castles that house the rich, greedy and powerful tyrants in our world. They subjugate and torture poor souls and toss them aside like dirty rags.

I feel like that is true, for all of us, not just one.

And I am staring at an empty chair in front of me at the same time reading your poem and I wondered how this chair would relate differently from what you see in it. Anyways, I just got carried away. This poem is so beautifully written and unique. It is like within those thick great walls that stand strong and proud are desperate loyal hearts yearning for even a small dose of fairness and respect. We see so many of these since history up to this present time. It's sad.

I love the first lonely chair picture with the rose, it seems to summon me to take a seat, but what message would it generate once I sit there. YOU ARE A BRILLIANT POET, Rahul! Keep them coming. Voted awesome, beautiful and pinning it.
