The Fabric Of Folly

Updated on September 7, 2013

The fabric of folly,

Comes apart at the seams,

But it’s never noticed,

For all the screams.

Ordinary players,

Remain on the bench,

To do extraordinary deeds,

Without a flinch.

All the beautiful stars,

Light up at night,

To be obscured,

By a gaudy neon light.

It’s hard to see,

For the illumination in the sky.

As all the truths in the world,

Add up to one big lie.

The top of the food chain,

Weighs too heavily on dreams,

And the fabric of folly,

Is coming apart at the seams.

Quiet desperation,

Was written in her face,

As she exited without a parcel,

From the well-stocked place.

And why do I notice?

What change can I make?

I appeal to God,

For all of God’s sake.

Timing is everything.

Peruse my resume.

But no-one can hear,

The words I’ll say.

Filthy lucre rewards those,

With sinister schemes,

As the fabric of society’s follies,

Comes apart at the seams.

Listen to the silence,

As billions quietly cry,

As all the truths in the world,

Add up to one big lie.

Pretty Is As Pretty Does

Beauty is only skin deep.

Malarkey is often knee deep.

And the price of a soul,

Is always too cheap.

Is my sleep reality?

Is life truly but a dream?

But we know that even we,

Are not really as we seem.

Pretty is as pretty does,

And is this really me?

You see a face full of time,

Shrouded eyes cannot see.

My hair is short.

I have no tattoos.

I’ve never shed a tear,

Nor had the blues.

Emmitt Kelly,

Was never a clown,

And Troy was just another,

One horse town.

It is and it’s not,

But then it never was,

And wars are never,

For a silly cause.

But things are not,

As they appear to be.

There’s more than meets the eye,

But you will never see.

Thank you! You are gifted no doubt. Really liked the Fabric of Folly. Folly is the sign of the times, it's everywhere and that's the scare, America is falling apart at the seams, yet most don't notice, or ignore it, it's too painful.

Sad but true. I wonder, is it because we don't want to see? Very thought provoking poetry, Micky. It is good to see you. :-)
