The Fall of the House of Cicero, Volume 3
The Fall of the House of Cicero
One day at Giordano's Fast Eddie asked Joe if the rumors were true that he was attracted to Vietnamese girls?
Joe said that they are Japanese. Eddie then said that we were at war with the Japanese too. He then asked him what is the matter with him. Then he said that the next thing he knows Joe will take home a welfare queen from Bronzeville.
Finally, Joe told Eddie that his relationship was none of his concerns, or anyone else. The only person that should care about his love life is Joe.
Eddie then said that he is just worried and looking out for his best interest. That we are living in crazy times because of sex, drugs, and Rock N Roll. Plus the race riots on the South and West sides. Don't get caught up with the animosity Joe, Eddie finally concluded his racial rant with.
Joe then told Eddie that someone who makes backroom deals all day in a corner booth in Giardano's is in no place to speak of anyone else.
Eddie then said that they may be corrupt politicians and scoundrels, but they are clean as the driven snow. Bodies do not pop up on Chicago and Cicero streets. They neatly put them in dumpsters, or under a tarp.
Joe then said that what they do is no better than what the pushers or Outfit guys do on the streets and that they are just much cleaner about it.
Eddie then said that what the bad boys in Cicero do is no different than what Nelson Rockefeller and his band of liberal Republicans do in New York. The only difference is that he is governor of a major state, and they are minor players in the establishment end of the GOP. However, in the end, the pushers, Outfit guys, Establishment Republicans and Democrats both big and small, in the end, what is the difference. Truly put, what is the difference.
